So last night I stop and wash my truck and the pressure washer blew a strip of paint off my truck... I guess time will tell if Toyota will stick it in my ass or not

That dot is rust.. assumedly from a rock chip in your paint that was never taken care of so water came in and your paint lifted there. What does Toyota have to do with that?

so... regardless of why the rust spot is there you actually think the paint should peal up like that?

    self wash.

I have a few other spots on the body of the truck that are rust bubbles. one is in the door jam so id love to hear rock chips that weren't taken care of

That is definetly rust.Did you notice at any time in that area that the paint was lifting/bubbling before this happened?Your paint is under warranty but not sure how Toyota will work with you on this.Definetly look into it though with Toyota. At least its a small area and not larger.Good luck!

That's what happens when rust gets under paint.. so yes, the paint should peel up like that.

Door jams can be scratched also, sorry if this is news.. but any scratch, whether it's from a shoe sole, rock, piece of grass, or a whisper that is deeper than the paint (primer is permeable to water) will rust. Rust then spreads underneath the paint where you can't see it, and the paint is no longer attached to the metal - it lifts. Then when something puts stress on it, that area of paint will break away and leave you with what you have.

But you're right.. it's definitely a manufacturer flaw that you have rust spots on unprotected steel and didn't take care of them on your own. Go get 'em, Tiger.

2013 with roughly 34K on odo.

Now the paint would lift where the rust is, it should break right? the rest of the paint should be bonded well enough to the metal to not just pop up...

    Not how it works.

If that's your argument for a faulty paint job, good luck with that.

You didn't ask for help. You blamed Toyota for lack of paint care on your end.

More than happy to help, thoughtfully. But you didn't care to learn how this issue happened or how to fix it or prevent it. So it is what it is. Not particularly respectful of someone who blames others for their problems. Good luck.

Remember that "rock chips" in the door sill statement? My replies are worthy of yours, bud.

Get into the dealer before 36,000 miles. That paint is under warranty, as is the metal underneath. If the metal has rust that in turn lifts the paint... Go to the Dealership.

Good luck. You have visible rust stain on the surrounding paint. Rust underneath the paint doesn't do that.. So I don't believe that statement.

Regardless. You have info. Hope it is fixed to your satisfaction.
