Port installed options

Hi guys, been lurking around here for a while now until I finally got my truck (ordered it back in December). My dealer sent me an email today saying that my truck (Super White DCSB TRD OR 6MT) will be reaching port this coming Friday and asked me if I wanted to add anything at port. Through searching TW I've seen that most trucks in Tx come with the Vehicle Sheild, is that not the case anymore since they're asking me if I want that put on at port? I was planning on getting some sort of side steps to mainly protect against door dings. The predator steps definitely look better than the oval tube steps, in my opinion. I've included a screen shot of the email I got. I wanted to get y'all's opinion on what I should get or not get installed at port. Thanks all!

 

Skip it all and add it aftermarket. You can get better prices.

Thanks for the responses, I figured that's what I should do. I guess the same goes for the home link mirror too?

 

I'd get the mats and the homelink and do the rest myself.

 

I bought a 2015 limited and had the dealer put the running boards on( the factory boards.) They are too high to really be of any use to get my mom in but they do protect against dings. I would buy aftermarket and install them yourself.

 

How much for the Homelink mirror? That one might be worth it.

 

You can get the homelink mirror from Bob on here for less than $250.00 and put it in yourself. You can also get it with the compass and temp gauge. Mine should arrive today.

 

+3, when I buy a Tacoma I tell the dealer to find one with minimal port add ons. I especially dislike paying almost $400 for a bottle of wax a.k.a vehicle shield. The sill protectors and tint is all I got on my 2013. I very much dislike Gulf States and will work to keep as much money out of their pockets as possible.

 

Watch out for the dealer add ons too like nitrogen

 

They quoted me $530 for it. Seems a little steep to me!

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm definitely all for saving $ and getting as much as I can aftermarket.

I was considering the mats but I think I'm going to go with Weathertechs once I actually get the truck.
