Wow. Crazy video and story. Seriously lucky no one was injured.

But I have to ask, were those Xmas lights on the truck?

The rear end pictures on these trucks all look remarkably the same...Bumper bent down, tailgate fine, gap between bed and cab. Mine looked the same...The damage is massive underneath though. Check for cracks around the boltheads in the bed also. $15,500 for mine on a truck that was 2 minutes off the dealership. It was totaled and settled last week.

Here are the pics of mine from March 2015. The frame underneath was twisted....Bent down and to the left which caused the bed to get a hump in it and cracks around the bolts. Hit by an old pos accord. I think these small cars go under until they hit the engine block and that is where it really does the frame damage to the truck.

Really!? So you consider a warped frame and a truck bed that has been forced forward out of spec and almost into the cab to be "cosmetic"?! That's insane...the vehicle is useless unless you replace the entire frame...it will never drive properly or be safe.

That is exactly correct and why I wanted nothing to do with the truck after it got hit. Be patient go through the insurance process and find another truck. As for the kid that did the damage we can only hope he meets up with AkArin for his replacement accord.

This happened back in 2015 (Sunday, March 22nd to be exact):

Had my driver's license just over 4 years at the time, and it was the first accident I ever had! Not even my fault!

I was sitting at a red light in the late evening. I was just chilling and listening to Billy Joel, and I looked down to either adjust the heat or turn up the volume on my radio). While I was looking down, the light turned green. I looked up and realized the light was green, but before I could take my foot off the brake, a woman driving a 2006 Highlander slammed into the back of me. I probably looked liked the Incredible Hulk when I got out of the truck, only a lot more profane...

The damage was not bad at all and amounted to $1,200 for a new rear bumper and some touch-up work to the area behind the bumper, but let's pause...

    1. For starters, the impact was so hard that I was convinced the entire back end of the truck would be destroyed (new bumper, new taillights, new tailgate, possibly a new left quarter panel). I knew my truck would be able to be driven home and driven until the damage could be fixed, but I was expecting $3K or more in damage. Looking back on it, I don't think the impact was hard as much as I was just startled. Who expects to be rear-ended at a green light? It actually wasn't a terribly hard impact, but it wasn't a low-speed love-tap like what often occurs in slow-moving traffic. It scared the shit out of me to say the least.

    2. Who the hell rear-ends a stationary vehicle at a traffic light, regardless of whether or not it's green? It wasn't like I was coming to a stop or I suddenly slammed on the brakes. I'd been sitting there for a couple minutes! It was Sunday night, and there were bars nearby. I couldn't help but wonder if a drunk had hit me. My other thought was a some punk kid who'd been texting and driving or was otherwise distracted.

    3. Aside from one time in February 2013 when I nailed my right rear fender on a metal pole while making a turn (just under $1,070 to fix), my truck had literally accident-free for the nearly 6 years I'd had it! So much for a clean CARFAX!

    4. I was not in the best mood. I'd just spent all day at the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Show (after driving about an hour there), driven about an hour back, and I was tired. I'd also misplaced my brand new iPod (a 26th birthday present from the parents; I was using my iPhone to listen to Billy Joel)

    5. I would have expected this shit in Doylestown or New Hope, but not practically in the middle of nowhere.

    g. All of the above factors pushed me over the edge and caused me to blow my stack...

I put my truck in park, flung my door open, stepped out of the truck, and just blindly started swearing at the other driver who I hadn't even seen yet. I just glared at the poor woman (still without realizing it wasn't a drunk or some punk kid) and bellowed "Are you fucking kidding me?!?!" Then, I realized the person who'd hit my Tacoma wasn't a drunk or a distracted/texting teen, but a quite attractive middle-aged blonde woman (45 to be exact). I scared the shit out of her to say the least, big as I am (about 6-foot tall and pushing 260 pounds at the time). I go to inspect the damage to my truck, and all the while she's apologizing. I realized that my back bumper is pushed in a tiny bit and will have to be replaced. I then ask "Do you have insurance?" She says yes, and that calms me down pretty much immediately.

I called my parents to tell them what had happened, and then we pulled into a nearby gas station to exchange info. I apologized for reacting with such hostility, explaining that my truck had been a gift from my dad and I put a lot of work into it, and that it pretty much meant the world to me. I also said I'd had a long day and I was tired. Both of these were true statements.

The woman continued to apologize, and gave me her insurance card and driver's license right away. I took a picture of both (still have the the photo). The excuse she gave me was that the light had been red as she'd been approaching it, and she braked gradually; but then it turned green as she got closer and she hit the gas pedal. She saw me stopped there, but assumed I'd be moving and took her eyes off the road to look in the center console for something. The next thing she knew my truck brought her Highlander to a rather abrupt and jolting stop. Translation: I was either texting or somehow distracted! But, she didn't seem to be drunk, she took full responsibility, and she had good insurance. Neither of us were hurt. I was good at this point.

Then, a local cop showed up. At this point I had her insurance info and was ready to hit the road. Before he got out of his Crown Vic, I asked the woman if she'd called the cops, because I sure hadn't She said no. The cop then got out of his squad car, saying that dispatch had received a call from a concerned passerby about someone with car trouble at this exact location. He was shocked when I told him that there had "actually been an accident." The responding officer took down our information, and made an official accident report, and everyone went home.

The accident happened in late March. This woman had Allstate, and they really dug in their heels for a simple $1,200 bumper. It was late April or early May before a claims adjuster looked at my Tacoma, and mid-May by the time it FINALLY went in to the shop.

The insurance company paid for everything, including a rental car. They were gonna give me a compact (Chevy Spark or similar), which I hate, so my dad paid an extra $40 or so to upgrade me to a brand new 2015 RAV4 XLE AWD! My truck was ready less than a day a later.

The obvious GOOD NEWS here is that all of the damage was superficial, nobody got hurt, and my beat-up original bumper was replaced by someone else's insurance company!

The BAD NEWS is that THIS HAPPENED like 5 months after the truck was repaired, pretty much destroying my shiny new OEM Toyota bumper that I got for free!

that's cause Virginia is a wonderful magical place where you don't go to jail for negligent driving with a suspended license and no insurance  LOL rotflmao!
But just so you know he will be fubar later. thats another compound charge for the driving side. And if your insurance has to pay a single dime they will go after him for anything they can get and they will destroy his credit if he doesn't so either he pays them off or stays the perpetual loser he\she seems to be forever! so you won by having insurance and being alive un-injured
