If you have multiple bubbles rising then waiting until now may have been the best thing to do. Now you can show the dealer all of them at once rather than come in multiple times.

I agree that the paint peel on the A-pillar shouldn't be that large. I don't agree that water wicked under the paint to that degree. If that was true then every stone chip on every hood would grow like that and they don't.

But hey, I don't work in a paint shop. Does anyone here work in a paint shop and truly know what you're talking about?

rock chips/hits don't always break the painted surface...
but when they do... and it's not resealed promptly
    ...then rust will likely commence.

Bruise an apple... and tell me if it doesn't turn brown under the skin.
If ya break the apple's skin... then it will likely rot faster.

I find it disconcerting that so many folk
seemingly look to lay blame elsewhere
and demand a free ride to repair
rather then accepting their own incompetence.

    Nothing is forever...
...not having that concept is a failure at life.

I'm not messing with any one in particularly...
I generally think the majority of all folk are morons. ;) :p

yeah ya'll can hate me... IDGAS

Another thing to consider is if your truck was damaged in shipping or on the lot and then fixed before delivery. Happens all the time without the buyer knowing. If it wasn't fixed right that could be the cause of it wasn't a rock that did it.

Toyota has a 5 year / unlimited miles corrosion warranty. So you should be covered.

I don't know what this covers, but I highly doubt it covers paint chips flaking due to paint damage and subsequent rust.

Set the truck on fire and roll it down a ditch. Report it stolen, collect the money from insurance, then buy yourself a new truck.

I'd bring it in and see what they say, even with the rust this seems extreme.

I think another lesson here is, do not leave any rust formations to spread. Kill the cancer quick while you can.

I think Toyota requires the rust to be a complete hole for them to give a shit. Comes down to shitty lesson learned however with the rational that was explained to me just now by someone that apparently works in a paint shop is that primer is water soluble and has a shitty bond to the metal?

Anyone think the pressure washer at the car wash might have helped blow that big of a paint chip off?
But, I do think the paint should have had better adhesion than that, could be the rust and lack of attention also.:notsure:

You get a bubble and take that sprayer 1" from the paint and pull the handle for high pressure, yep it sure will do that easy.

it had better adhesion which is why he surrounding paint is still intact...

This spot didn't, because rust contaminated the surface of the sheet metal.
