AR-15 BS Thread

Hey thanks. I've been on this site for about 30 minutes browsing, I think the only downfall I'm seeing is a lot of stuff is out of stock but they have what I'm looking for.

 

Wait a week or two and it will come back in stock, they had a big Easter sale so they have to reload.

My problem was i got so excited about the Eotech i forgot to sight in my iron sights..so the eotech was throwing me off alot.

On another note, I really want that midrange G33 scope to go with the Eotech red dot.

Close enough to finishing my 6.8 SPC upper that I finally put the upper on the lower and started painting it, one more coat (green) and it'll be done.
All i need now are set screws for my YHM gas block, gas tube roll pin, thread protector or muzzle device, and either BUIS or Nikon 3-9x40 scope.

Anyone happen to know the thread pitch for the YHM gas block set screws?

 

Any of you ar15 owners also a photographer? I'm trying to get this photo:

but in a much higher resolution.. need a minimum of 1575x2025 (75dpi) but optimal would be 3150x4050(150dpi)

would like to get green tips in there, too. i think that might look good

I can get that shot for you. With green tips. And larger at 300dpi if you'd like. It would have to wait a few days though assuming you're not in a rush.

Sorry to intrude, a buddy and I have had 4 gen 2's between us. All fitted with ACOG's we found one that would respectively group @ 100 yards with .55 grain 223. The three were sold within 7-10 days.
Love the action, fantastic recoil, no gas issues(and a cool gas set up), not one feed issue.

Note, a Sig fan long timebut, I am still pissed they sell these in military cardboard boxes.

 

1:7 twist rate on the barrel (better for heavier rounds) and the piston set up screws up the natural whip (frequency) of the barrel (in my opinion). That's not to say all piston guns are not accurate, I have an Adams Arms piston setup on a custom rifle I built and it's a tack driver...when the gas system is turned off. Also accuracy is a very subjective thing. The traditional rule of thumb is a 1" group at 100 yards is great, but off hand I shoot a 3" group at 100 yards (on a good day!) so for me anything better than that off the bench is fine for a battle rifle intended for 300M and under use.

Well...for it's intended use as a battle rifle it is an outstanding choice. For a paper puncher they are largely useless. I like them because I can turn it off and get bolt gun accuracy out of it. The Sig516 can do this as well, and with the right ammo like 77grain OTM's I'll bet that Sig516 is more accurate than any of us off hand.

 

Noveske switchblock can do the same if I recall correctly. I just dislike the idea of additional moving parts and springs in what was supposed to be a simple system. I also hate the marketing ploy of calling it a "gas piston", as though a standard BCG isn't in fact a piston. It should be " remote piston" or "external piston"

 

Don't knock it till you try it is all I'm saying. Personally, I have had very good luck with my set up. I'm getting close to needing a new barrel and the system works fine. I didn't log it, but it's in the neighborhood of 15K rounds without any issues. I don't have any other firearms with that high of a round count and no problems, do you?
