How bad is this rust? Is it fixable? Was thinking of putting some POR-15 on it.

It the front undercarriage. I added more pictures.... So I fucked up sadly. Bought this 2007 base access cab used a couple of days ago and didn't bother to look under the front. Today I did and this is what I found. I financed it though a dealer. Man I fucked up.

I bought it Tuesday so like 3 days ago. Went last night but I have to go back to talk to the general manager. All I wanted was a good Tacoma.

That is a hell of a lot of rust. Good luck OP.

I almost made the esame mistake when I went and looked at a hybrid Tahoe. Took it for a test drive and even talked numbers. Had a gut feeling to check up underneath and you could hit the frame and see chunks fall off. Can't believe I forgot to check it first.

I may have jumped the gun on the three day cooling off period. Don't think it applies to your situation.

If the dealer knows something and realizes that the buyer would want to know about it, but doesn't disclose it this might be fraud. Does the rust on the frame fall into this disclosure, legally not sure, but as a business owner I would tell my customers. Used cars have a rather high disclosure obligation, atleast that is what the web is saying!

Mind me asking how much you paid for the truck?

I didn't know about the Tacoma rust problem until reading about it on TW. Convinced me purchase a new one instead.

Yes sir, I'd be back at the dealer today! Worst case to satisfy you, they could change the frame. My 06 was getting bad, not nearly that bad. Why wouldn't they change the frame for you, Toyota will pay them to do it! It would only benefit them. One thing that I can say for my 9 years and 4 Toyota experience, the dealerships, at least the good ones, aim to please and have factory backup. All except the one claims person and one district rep during my '13 lemon case who now know my name well and probably have my picture on the wall. I think one claims person may have been fired after my situation.... Never waken a sleeping bear...lol, especially if you have created an email trail as proof.

I'd approach them calmly until it wasn't time to remain calm. Heck, I bought a used Camry with 95k from my dealer and they rebuilt the engine 3000 miles later without a harsh word spoken.

I would bet that if they did an inspection, they could find at least a pin hole in that frame that warrants an unsafe vehicle. That would look very bad upon them just having sold it to you. Pin holes and worse are very common on truck frames that look better than yours.

If that was sold at a dealership, they have a legal liability for selling you an unsafe vehicle.
    Take it back!

Take that rust bucket back. That is awful for those pinheads at the dealer to even think of selling that. Do yourself a favor and get a mechanic you trust to look it over first before you do the next deal.

That thing looks like it was parked in the ocean. My 05 that is currently getting a frame swap only had bad rust at the cats. Yours is rusted everywhere. Hopefully you can take it back or worst case get a frame swap.

I've worked at dealerships, state laws mandate they are not allowed to sell unsafe vehicles!
And dealerships don't sell vehicles like this without inspections, or they wouldn't be in business for long, this kind of vehicle gets junked or wholesaled!
Now used car dealers... are still required to inspect these vehicles and correct safety issues.
Otherwise, AKArin would be able to open his own dealerships and unload any bad title vehicle he wants.
