1 Because Late 06 -07-08 are most trouble free years.
2 Because until Dec 07 Engine and Transmissions for some trucks were crated Land Cruiser drive trains.
3 Because you live in Georgia (no salt/snow to rust frame)
4 Because you have pre-runner....(no front diff to vibe) and you are unlikely to take truck outside of pavement.

Your situation is Unique and nowhere near average.

As far as Titan goes the only thing that gives me hibbie jibbies is Dual Turbo setup.
Not quite sure how I feel about this. Seems complicated, but it looks like access to it will be fairly easy to clean soot out of it.
I am used to variable Turbos they went with dual setup (smaller/Bigger) so we see how that works out.

Not at all. Plenty of other V8's have similar lifespans and much better fuel economy. The iforce is a relic and needs a refresh.

 

Sequential turbos are nothing new. Pretty much every legendary sports car from the 90's had sequential turbos and they were incredible. My 3rd generation RX7 had a setup like that. It's the ONLY thing that didn't break on that car lol!

In all seriousness boy Blue needs more truck than a quarter ton. He talks a lot about towing up to 8000 lbs, regularly carrying weight in the bed, and needing a cab closer in size to the first generation Tundy. I'm glad he's moving to a truck he will be happier with because it fits him better. I just hope it holds together. Nissan isn't great for that anymore. That being said I would do dirty things for a GT-R lol.

 

The new Titan intrigues me. Not that I'm looking to buy one but I did see one at the auto show. My split second reaction was "Well that's just a Dodge RAM in disguise." And you know what, that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

 

As a Ram owner, I disagree. The Ram isn't a very nice ride. Good thing mine is a work truck or I would of traded it off already for all the things that have gone wrong in under 30K miles.

 

Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I have been trying to talk myself into a fullsize, basically making solutions for problems I don't have.

 

I hear the air ride suspension is quite nice. I've ridden in one (only once though) with the air ride and it was quite nice. Can't comment on reliability though.

 

Mine doesn't have the air ride. I don't tow enough with it to justify the amount of options the company would of had to of paid for in order to have that option. On the 3/4 tons the air ride makes very little difference in drivability.

The 1/2 ton Rams are the least reliable truck in our work fleet. We can buy a Ram for a few K cheaper than anything else and yet we only own two now at my location out of about a dozen trucks. Reliability is a major issue with Ram.

 

Because there are no other trucks available than full size for 2016 model. And I need a truck. Not a lifted Sienna, Not a Lifted Malibu but a Truck.

 

I love my situation.... easy roads to braaaap on lol...

My Tundra gets better gas mileage than my tacoma lol... but thats just my real world comparison...

 

I didn't say the iforce was unreliable. It's a good motor. The problem is that it makes barely anymore power than other smaller modern V8's and consumes about 30 % more gas.

IRL most testers get about 13 mpg with Tundra with the bigger engine. IRL most testers get 16-19 mpg with Ford, Ram, or GM similar V8 trucks with better capabilities. That's the problem with the Tundra. It's behind the curve for its premium price.

 

Just curious what other smaller v8 are you comparing? I recently test drove about every full size truck...5.0 Ford was great i did like that motor very much, but for the price the Tundra has more bang for the buck when spending about 35-40k range...The chevy with the 5.3 honestly doesnt compare, my gf's dad has a 14' GMC Sierra with it and I borrowed it for about a week and was never impressed, the 4cyl highway mode is nice but thats about it, the titan got horrible gas mileage while only having like 305 HP? I didnt even consider the Dodge Ram but i have heard good things about the Hemi but not familiar with the Rams fuel economy in comparison... with that said it really doesnt matter because who buys a full size 385HP V8 for fuel economy
