Well it seems they've fixed the clearance issue with the flat bottom and as far as performance, I think they put the best exhaust on there to help the truck be as efficient and powerful at the same time as it can be considering the competition.

I agree. I took these pictures of it when I was looking at it in Denver. And that was the first thing I noticed. Toyota has always been some of the best as designing "smooth" under carriages for clearance but I'm not sure what happened now. Although, I had never noticed until that day that the 2nd gens were very similar, but the 3rd gen has some extra bracing or something on the front.

    Just the basics
I hadn't seen this one before...
Not much room in there for a 2nd battery. Tons of room in front of the radiator.

I see they kept that silly battery tie down from the current model. Still gonna make everyone putting in a new 27F mad when they go to tighten it down; it's not adjustable on the back side, and most other batteries other than 'yota are 1/4" too tall so it bends or tries to crush the battery.

edit: does that say 24F on that battery? On a v6?

I wonder if they went electric with the PS. I don't see a pump and it looks from that angle like the belt only goes as high as the water pump.

Driver's side plug changes are gonna be barrels of fun! Please be iridiums...

No more top mounted oil filter? Do not want

And the radiator overflow, and the washer reservoir, and the fuse box, and the brake booster location, same core support, same hood prop rod. etc. But look! They have hybrid wipers! Very new and fancy!

It doesn't surprise me that they would go electric, but I was hoping it would be put off for one more generation. EPS is numb, and won't help off road steering feel.

Anybody notice, no access to spark plugs :D
$800 for changing spark plugs by Toyota tech who will disassemble half of the engine.

When I first saw that I was thinking the same thing "how the hell
do I change the plugs!?!" But until I see the actual Taco's on the lot
I'm not assuming too much just based on the few we've seen shown
    at the auto shows.

If you look closely on the picture, you can see coil packs behind the wall of hoses and wires. #5 looks right underneath the coolant lines for the cab.
That should be fun to do sparkplugs.

Nothing wrong with a little criticism, especially when it's something us Taco owners have dealt with before.

Definitely more stuff in the way between the head and manifold on the new engine. However, I'd wager it will still be easier to change them on the 3rd gen auto than the 2nd gen stick. For those who haven't had that pleasure, they ran the clutch line to that support bracket that supports the intake manifold (that has to come out to access the middle plug) and it can be a bugger to get out of the way.

Could be worse though. At least it's not a GM where step one is "unbolt driver's side motor mount and raise engine an inch"

I'm thinking it will be room for a hybrid setup.

Didn't the nose need to be extended to meet new crash standards ? Pretty sure I read that in one of the other threads , hybrid would be sweet though

I dont know my 07 has like one hose in the way of driver side spark plug. Other 5 have clear access. Pass side all it needs is air filter removed and there is wide open space there.

Yeah, that is what the engineer said, but you never know what Toyota is hiding up their sleeves. Isn't the DS4 tech suitable for hybrid applications? I'm thinking this is the direction they plan to take with the truck.

Does anyone know if this truck will have to meet the small overlap crash test?
