    The frame is manufactured and handled by Dana. The frame is then shipped to Toyota where they drag and drop the rest of the truck onto the frame.

    I would have expected to see some primer under that paint? It looks to me like that pillar has been repainted. You can see the sanding marks which is not indicative of a factory job. The rust allowed water to get under paint that wasn't adhering well because of poor prep in my determination? Are you original owner? If yes it could be one of the dealers new truck damage repairs. Sometimes new rigs get damaged unloading or on the lot and are repaired and still can be sold as new.

    Looks like metal grain to me. If someone hit that spot with a sander it would be an erratic scratch pattern and they wouldn't all be going in the same direction all pretty like that.
