The 6112 units are tuned specifically for each application as well.

In the Tacoma application, the 6112 is the same as the pro, with more height settings and more "performance" aimed valving.

    In terms of rebuilding.

OWNER REBUILDABLE SHOCKS (9300/9200/8125/7100 Series) The 9300 Series, 9200 Series, 8125 Series and 7100 Series are fully owner rebuildable and revalvable. Any component can be purchased through a BILSTEIN dealer or direct from BILSTEIN. Owner rebuildable shocks can also be revalved and serviced by BILSTEIN, if requested.

FACTORY REBUILDABLE SHOCKS (7100 Classic/6112/5165/5160/5125/5100 Series) Factory rebuildable shocks can be serviced by the BILSTEIN Technical Center in Poway, California. These shocks can be rebuilt to factory specification or revalved to a new specification. Internal adjustments can be made independently to the rebound and compression damping forces. For more information please contact BILSTEIN at 1-800-537-1085 .

 Thanks. So unless you are a guy who rebuilds shocks in his garage the 6112's have rebuildability like everything else in that price range. I figured that.

I'm going to move to 6112's next spring. TAP do you know if the 6112 can use a heavier coil than what it comes with? I'm thinking with the armor, S/C, steel winch mount, and winch my truck is going to get too nose heavy for the stock 6112 spring to give me much lift.

The "for less" part is what I have a problem with. You try to get into extended travel shocks from Fox, King, ICON, you're gonna pay $1500 for just the FRONT because you'll need new UCA's along with the coilovers.

The Baja/Pro kit gets you extended length shocks front and rear and you don't have to buy new UCA's.

Also, I'm one of the few that has actually driven the Baja/Pro suspension. I slapped it onto an SR5 for $1550 and drove it for 15,000 miles on tough roads in Colorado, Utah, Nevada, rocky roads, desert roads, hauling a 3700 lb trailer on desert roads. No mall crawling, hard driving.

It's a good suspension system. It is flat out goofy so many people chime in denigrating it seeings now they've never driven it.

It can, but we have yet to find one that fits. Its about a 14" spring, 600#, 3.5ID. Eibach most likely has one that will fit, but we are still hunting.

Do you have a new shtick? This is stale.

Eh, I'll bite since my shtick is the same. Gen I Tundra 10.5 inches of ground clearance with 265/75/16's, one inch more than the Tacoma, no goofy crossover exhaust, silky smooth drivetrain, quieter cabin, gotta love all that.

280HP/320 torque, sweet V8, 50 inches between the wheelwells, only two inches wider on each side with fender flares, same width without fender flares, gotta love all that.

A/C and heat feeds into the rear seats through the center console, power rear slider, heated mirrors, full leather. Rear 60/40 fully padded split rear bench seats on the Access Cab are actually usable for passengers, foldup for cargo, folddown center armrest with cupholders. Rear windows on the Access Cab vent. Gotta love all that.

Pushbutton 4WD Hi/Lo switch, much better than the Tacoma twist. Same 128 inch wheelbase like the Tacoma DCSB and Access Cab. Only 218 inch total length Access Cab with a 75 inch bed and a real step bumper instead of that stubby step bumper the Tacoma has, gotta love all that.

It will actually be pretty gotdang sad if Toyota can't match the 2016 Tacoma to a 2005 Tundra. Alright, rant over, carry on.

Does the Billy 6112 use 3.5" ID coils? That's a pretty large inside diameter, with an OD close to 5"?. The Baja or Pro front Billies use only 3" ID coils. I upgraded the front coils on my Baja to the Eibach 700#, which are readily available from Summit Racing.

We will double check - Almost positive it was a 3.5"ID, but 3" sounds right.

If those fit the Baja, they will fit the 6112 - Same spring seat, same dimensions.

They'll be 3" ID coils. No worries. 6112's are 62mm shocks same as 2.5" inch shocks, so 3" ID coils are the choice. Unless you want to go to some ridiculous extents lifting the truck.

I put a lot of time on this board into pimping the Tacoma, Ding, so what's the big deal with me pimping the Gen I Tundra? It's a pretty badass truck.

You still can't figure out what a great truck is, of course you haven't owned a Gen I Tundra. :)

Let us take a measurement first before you all go out buying springs.. Its larger than a 2.5" shock, slightly.

Yeah, BFD, 2.65" vs 2.5". Either fit into a 3" ID coil spring, the standard coilspring ID.

A 3" ID coil is what you're gonna get with any suspension system, right?

I have experienced an 06 tundra non trd prerunner v8 quad cab. Cabin is way bigger, engine is awesome, i prefer the overall size of the taco but for anything besides crawling and tight trails the gen 1 tundra is pretty good in stock form. Never left us stranded through rodriguez canyon, barstow, primm, ocotillo, laughlin, and local sd spots.

Chas was driving so thats probably a factor...lots of xp. I got it stuck instantly at fiesta. Lol

I do derp a lot, I think that is well known. You do also, so don't try to get over on me.

I do know the Tacoma is a nice truck, owned two, I also know the Gen I Tundra is an ass kicker. Gen I Tundra is the smoothest badass truck I've ever owned.

I don't get all impressed with folks that haven't driven a Gen I Tundra. If they had done so unbiased they would agree it kicks the crap out of the Tacoma. The Gen I Tundra kicks the crap out of the Gen 2 Tacoma in every category.

Actually, if Toyota would have made the 2016 Tacoma like the 2005 Tundra they would have hit it out of the park. Would have smoked the the competition for another ten years.. Same size as the '05 Tundra, 50 inches between the wheelwells, same composite bed, easy peasy to smoke the weak competiton.

I worked at a car dealership and drove a gen 1 Tundra.... Wasn't blown away. It drives like a Tacoma. So keep saying it's better but it is all about the end users needs. I don't need a v8 or a full size truck I like the Tacoma so good for you for liking the tundra.
