stupidest airbag light problem ever!!! :mad:

I have been chasing a airbag problem for months now, it was a short.
Today I found it to be related to the fuse box under the hood.
I would jiggle it and the problem would flicker so I was checking the thing out by taking the bottom off and checking the wires out with no luck.
I put it back together and the problem was gone.
I was messing around with the fuses and found this


Does anyone know what the short fuse is for?
I figured it was regarding a short in the system but what amp is supposed to be there?
The thin turned out to be loose and causing the interior lights, keyless, radio, and airbags not to work and throw an airbag code 32 which is in regards to the occupant detection system.
What the hell is up with that crap, I mean come on.

 

Short pin is for long term storage draw.
Makes systems go to sleep .
There is no amp rating. It'slike sticking a flat blade in there. Not system protected.
Not a short. An open

 

When I pull the pin out it causes my problem.
What is the norm amp on everyone else's?

 

Maybe you didnt understand.
It's NOT A FUSE.
When you pull it you shut systems down. Signals get lost.
It has a special shape .
Lights will come on with it out.

You said you were losing radio ,interior lights etc.
With that pin out its normal.

What is it that's supposed to be there?
There is a 20 amp in it and that is how it came.
I noticed one of the fuses for the radio was a 15 when it was supposed to be a 10.
The old owner didn't take care of this truck.
It was in bad condition when i got it.
Can I just put my own kind of pin in there or does it have to be specific?

 

It should only be a short pin that goes there, nothing else. The only way to get another is to order a whole new fuse block from the dealer

They do things like that sometimes. I don't know myself since i have not had to get one since like forever. All the short pins i have noticed in a Toyota is shaped different than the others. Like having little ears on them or deeper or wider.
That could account for your bad connection as it's working it's way out.
my suggestion is going to a junk yard and getting one out of another truck.

To be honest a proper fitting fuse would not hurt the system in any way.
It would need to be bigger than a 20.
I don't understand the reason for yanking that short pin but it had to be someone who was clueless.

 

You could try a junkyard... But we just did one a few weeks ago. The short pin was missing and they put a regular fuse in its place, needless to say it would keep blowing. The fuse block was only about $140, when you say fuse block you would think it would be more, it was completely bare. Only the short pin came with it, nothing else.

I have seen fuse blocks on eBay for our truck go for $100 with all the fuses in it but I'll call the dealer Mon. To see if I can buy one.

It turns out u can buy the short on and it cost a whopping $4
That I can live with.

 

Picking it up at the dealer here in a few and I'll post back.
I'm positive it's just because a norm fuse is not the same shape and it moves around

 

Well the dealer gave me that part # and it doesn't fit.
It was to wide and didn't look like the stock one at all.
I'm glad I checked while there so we could figure it out and when they went through my Vin they found that this being a Mexican taco ( LOL ) there is no sep. Short pin And I would have to order the whole fuse box for around $150.
I politely told them fuck No and said I'll figure it out.
I did..
The norm 20 amp fuse was just to loose so I dent the prongs on it a little and shoved it in there.
Haven't had a problem since and I have been down some really rough roads today, with speed ( was kind of fun) with no problems.
So instead of buying $100 + worth of shit for a few $ part, I'm going to stick with this for now till I find a Tacoma in the junk yard ( fat chance ).
