Not a problem, it took me a while and some money to figure it out.

Just a bunch of old crap
I decided to take this silly project totally over the top and add solar charging to my mod box. Wired right to the charging board, they'll take a trickle of charging power throughout the day to help keep my mod's batteries slightly topped off. More of a gimmick than anything at this point, but why the hell not? I still need to test a circuit for it, but I have the diodes to make this work. Putting these solar cells inside the box and sideways, I should be able to fit 3 of them on one side.

I've got that one thing, and that other one thing, oh yeah and that other other one thing.
Ohm meter yes, jig, nah. A good set of jewler screwdrivers work better. Cotton and wire is a given lol.

Yes, that is all you will need. If you have a small precision screwdriver like one from a glasses kit you can use that to wrap on versus buying a full jig kit. Also I would recommend 24 gauge wire for the doge.

i think the doge wil lbe too much for a beginner. i think a more adjustable mutation x or troll would be better. easier to build on, deeper juice well and smaller tip.

I hit it 3 times at 36.5 and the 3rd one was dry (my very 1st dry hit) I dialed it back and set it on 32. Seems to work for me there with the juice I'm using. Doge is on the way

Did you make sure to juice the coil before putting it in? Also are all the wick holes showing?

Well, the test charging circuit actually works. Took 3 4V panels in a series to get a high enough output to activate the charging board, plus a 5V voltage regulator, so that it will charge without having to be pointed perfectly at the sun. Only issue is that I have to put the whole mod in the sun, and that's not good for the battery and the plastics. It was a fun concept, but one that I don't see a necessity for. Inside lighting isn't strong enough to be useful at all.

So the Doge V4 showed up and I've been playing around with it. 5 wraps of 24g came out to .49ohm put a second on the other side and that came back at .82. Does that sound about right? What is normal? I need to know the trick to running the cotton into the coils.

are you using the japanese or cotton balls? for the japanes i cut about 1/4" strips with the grain and roll up one side with my fingers, you can also juice a little of the rolled up side to make it more compact. shove the end into the coils and pull carefully. refluff the cotton before you start to juice. my 5 wraps are usually at .20-.25 ohms
