Tacoma Recovery Tow Hook and Shackle?

Couldnt find many pictures of a Recovery Tow Hook with shackle on a Non TRD truck that wasnt close up, how it looks with the skidplate (plain black one) or how far it sticks out. anyone with pictures

I made the same thing from a piece of 3/8 angle iron and a gas ax total cost $15 including wrinkle paint. granted it is 1/8 thinner but I defy you to bend or break it and you can customize it to any length you want. Call me cheap but $120 seems just a bit steep.

Now that's funny! How about $240 for painting it too... Ridiculous IMO

 

True a little steep... but i found a light weight one for $50 (usually $69 on their website) but i dont want it to stick way out... thats why im looking for some pics... Bubbabud if you could take a pic sometime i would like to see it..

 

Not exactly the answer to your question, but a cost effective recovery solution none the less, unless, you have to have a shackle. Curt hook (Amazon - 10 bucks)

Hook attached to O.E bracket with grade 8 nut and bolt, then welded to the bracket, then reinstalled to the stock frame location.


Probably not for a "hard core" recovery, but sufficient for a "tug" if you're not too badly stuck.

Sorry, just re-read your post. Mine's a TRD. I took the alloys and decals off, but it's a TRD.

 

Do those BP recovery hooks work with the Toyota skid plate? I only see pictures with BP's skid plate.

 

Yes, mine has the stock skid.

Your picture is dark to begin with... but did you paint your plate or something?

Nope. It's black from the factory.

 

Damn they're proud of that thing, huh? Not exactly a real high tech part to produce. It's nice but would be a lot more appealing at about half that price.

 

Thank you! that is the skid plate i have, i assumed all the TRD's had the silver aluminum plate.

I agree it is priced way to high. He could probably cut the price by a 1/3 and he would sale at least twice as much product. I refuse to buy from him just because he is a theif.

 

ya its quite expensive for what it is, but i found one for much cheaper and i dont need a heavy duty one for being a 1 wheel prerunner... But i think if he would cut his prices on alot of his stuff he would make A LOT more money
