The guy I work for asked when we were going and I told him late may early June and he said we'd be fine by then. It is a desert after all... He said there are a few spots that can be nasty but he showed me where. He may also come along on his dirtbike with his son. They're really cool people people dont worry haha. Not the typical DB bikers we've met on the trails before...

You guys would be fine with all the trucks. It is just a nasty kinda mud haha. I would be curious about setting up the tipi in the sand out there. I know I need longer stakes for it. Should be fun!

haha oh yea! Well, depending where we decide to camp you may not have an issue. It's not sand everywhere. Where do you think you'd meet up with us if you can come? The last chance to hook up from a main road is Jeffrey city, from there it's all nothing until the dunes.

No clue, I would probably work that out once I know I can go. I know how to get to boars tusk so that's an option

Trust me...we all know about the horrible desert mud...haha

I guess we need to decided if it starts friday morning or thursday night.

    What say you Marc?

Gonna be awesome. It'll be still cool in the desert...ish..in june too so camping will be comfortable. Think the tipi will be a bit dusty if the wind picks up though haha

I would probably have to meet up at the first camp site. Ill probably work from 8am-5pm then leave immediately. Depending on where you guys are that will probably 2-3 hrs.

its an all dirt trip from basically riverton all the way to the killpecker sand dunes.

hmmm. I don't know the route good enough to know where that is. I think we are gonna be at killpecker friday night.

I'll worry about it more when time comes I guess. The tipi will be fine with wind too. It has a sod skirt that keeps the dirt and crap out well. I am more worried about how well it would hold up to wind + soft sand. I might just sleep under the stars if the weather permits. Probably going to be to hot for me to enjoy having a tent.

Yea we can start from Lander or Riverton.

Depending if we want to go through the Gas Hills or not will change the day quite a bit. To the gas hills from Riverton is 45 miles on pave, then it would be all dirt from there to the dunes. If we didnt go through the gas hills we'd leave from Lander and head to Jeffrey city on pavement, then from there we'd be on all dirt to the dunes with no place really for Gage to meet us until the dunes or boars tusk which is right at the dunes anyways.

This is common scenery in the Gas hills:

If we cut out the gas hills we'd get to the dunes earlier and be able to explore that area more and meet up with whomever can come up from down south. May be the way to go? Up to you guys.

Were you planning on camping at the base of boars tusk? Be a sweet photo op. I would probably set up away from the group. I don't want them sky high trail motels blocking the stars behind the tipi :p.

Lol, Well the base of the boars tusk can be pretty nasty... it's a alkali flat in some spots.

There are good spots though. Probably make the call when we get there depending on weather.

Well, for the lab final in Ornithology we had to identify a bird and then either write down it's family or order. Guess who just realized he wrote down family for the order and the order for the family? Yep, this guy. Officially questioning if I can pull off a C in the class now. That was a huge amount of points.

Well I am still at least a year away and since I found out I have two years left of paid education then I am likely to lower my class size to 12 credits and spread it out. Then pick up a job in the wildlife lab on campus for experience.

I did the math and pretty sure I need a 40% to maintain a 75% over in lab. I might just be overthinking things. I am going to talk with the TA to see if she will be nice. It's going to be an obvious fuck up. I am just glad I was consistent because I can argue partial credit for at least naming the correct orders and families. It was 34 out of the possible 100 points. I know I missed quite a few of the others so I am looking at around a 50% :frusty:.
