HeavyDutyParts Ebay Wheel Spacers

Hey All,

Just looking to bring something to the table. They are 4 1.25" hubcentric spacers to fit a 6x5.5 bolt pattern for $157. Now I know that the rule of thumb is to stay away from ebay merch because of the old saying "you get what you pay for", however I contacted the seller and he assured me that all of his spacers are of the highest quality 6061 T6 Billet Aluminum and are machined in his own shop. That combined with his fantastic ratings with great feedback from customers is beginning to sway me to buy these. I just wanted to feel around and get some opinions from you guys whether you have had experience with these spacers or not.

Used to have 3 inch spacers on an old explorer I owned and I killed that truck spacers worked great just check warranty before you buy

 

I bought some cosmetically flawed (slightly discolored) ones from spidertrax for $75/pair. Might call and ask them if they have any.

 

There is a better than even chance that O.E wheel attaching hardware, brake parts, chassis components etc are "imported" by the domestic supplier, for supply to Toyota. So the inference that an e-bay part might be inferior to a similar non O.E. or major branded parts is a little problematic. Caveat Emptor. But don't assume that an e-bay part is inferior just because it's sold on e-bay regardless of the application.

 

Is this part widely used? I've never heard of the company. I have no problem buying things on ebay for any of my vehicles, but I draw the line at vital components. I would never buy an "ebay branded" clutch or engine components, suspension pieces, etc.

I wouldn't have any problem buying body pieces, trim, things that wouldn't kill me if they failed.

It's MY personal opinion, he asked for it he got it.

 

And.. I'm not sure but I don't think Toyota sells wheel spacers.

 

You're right, I don't think Toyota makes anything that looks like Spider-trax spacer, in fact, Toyota makes very little of it's own production content. Literally 1000's of suppliers producing parts from domestic and off shore plants, supply Toyota production facilities. The lugnuts holding your factory wheels to your hubs, were likely manufactured in China. These parts find their way into aftermarket reseller channels and even e-bay. (the spacer is only as good as the attaching hardware and / or wheel stud) I don't think many of us would knowingly install inferior replacement parts on our trucks, but a name brand is no guarantee of safety or quality (remember, the rusty frames were supplied by Dana)

I wouldn't worry so much about the source as I would the reputation.

If you can find verified hard use on them, then go for it. But if the reviews are coming from street queens, I would hesitate to be the test case who takes a set airborne.

 

The whole "gas pedal issue".

The assemblies were made by a third party who also supplied other companies and Toyota took all the heat.

Thanks for all the feedback. I guess my two objectives of this were #1 see if anyone had used a product by this manufacturer and #2 get this product some more recognition as after speaking with the seller and doing a bit of research I don't see any quality difference between these and spidertrax. For posters #2,3 and 4 I'm going to disregard your comments completely as you can't even take the time to type out your own response so I know you didn't even open the link and check out the product. I am not "cheaping out" money is not an issue. I found an alternative product to spidertrax and Bora that I believe to be reputable and just want to know if someone has had any experiences with these products. And they are not "eBay branded" they are sold on eBay however the manufacturer produces them in his own machine shop.

You started this thread looking for opinions, you got them. I believe it's fairly ignorant of you to "disregard" a person's opinion after you asked for it.

 

True. The bolded question seems to be asking for opinions, 'whether you have had experience with these spacers or not'. If that was not the intention, wording was unclear. It could have been taken both ways.

So you get what you ask for, intentional or not...

Similar quality to Bora and Spidertrax and those mentioned above supposedly

I always think in terms of what-if. Spider Trax and Bora are name brands so I can be assured if their product fails, they have products insurance to pay me. Some guy is a garage/shop with a lathe may not have insurance to fix my broken ass if his product fails.

 

To all the butthurt guys, all I meant was if you aren't going to actually make your own opinion why post? "X2" and "^^^^this" I just consider to be a waste of post.

Frogging: I looked at the link you posted. The seller has some horrible feedback for some items including some of those spacers he sells with people complaining that they don't fit and he refuses to reply when a refund is needed.

 

No hurting going on here, I have no stake in what you do with your truck. I looked early on at the link you posted, and they seem like a good product. If I was in the market for spacers, I would probably give them a try, but only for my Jeep, which I do not take on the highway that much. Having had 2 sets of Spidertrax previously, I am confident with those for my Tacoma if I wanted spacers. danceswithwolves brings up a valid point of Bora & Spidertrax being larger companies who probably have insurance to back up their product if it fails.

You will be the final judge as to whether these are for you. Seems to be a product/seller that has little to no history on TW.
