When I got the front bumper, I got it by cashing out on an insurance claim. I asked the insurance company about it and they said I should document it so that if there were another claim I would have proof that the previous damage had been fixed. I sent them pictures. They said "nice truck".
Otherwise, I haven't reported any mods.

Never even heard of one before. At first I was like, did you forget the five? Or maybe wondering if it one of those custom dealer/region packages. But then I looked in the brochure and there it is, sitting between convenience and SR5. I guess it's for people who wanted the Sport appearance, at least in terms of color matching and no chrome, but not the price tag? It does look like it would be a popular option for people who were planning to build from the start and didn't want the TRD suspensions or other extras.

"16-in. black alloy wheels with P245/75R16 7JJ tires; color-keyed front and rear bumpers, grille surround, overfenders, door handles and power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators; headlights with smoked trim; and fog lights (V6 models only)"

I found a press release on it from 2013: http://toyotanews.pressroom.toyota.com/releases/2014+toyota+tacoma+sr+package+entune.htm
The wheels are just black Bajas. I also noted in the brochure that they have/had a Limited package too, which I don't ever recall seeing and have a hard time picturing on a Tacoma as opposed to a 4Runner or Tundra.

And speaking of Sports, I noticed on the newer ones the scoop appears much smaller than it used to, though I'm not sure if that's because of the hood itself or just insert. So there's even less appearance difference between it and the non-scooped.

I never did before, but then I'd had the same insurance company all my life and they'd never asked. When I switched to Geico about six months ago, they actually asked as part of the application both online and over the phone. Specifically they mentioned bumpers or suspension modifications and lifts. I'd read some stories about how they wouldn't cover vehicles modded for off-road use which made me a bit wary, but I was told it was so they cover the actual value/costs of the mods. All I've done that was noticeable/expensive is change wheels (to other Toyota OEM wheels) and told them so, but they still asked what I paid and it appears on the policy details. I certainly didn't bother mentioning the diff breather or adding wiring for a CB. I'm not sure at what level a 'mod' becomes something they want to hear about.

I think there's some limit they'll cover mods up to before it affects rate, or there might be cases where they won't cover you if you remove safety equipment/etc. Made no difference in my case to rate. I did ask about 'off road use' and basically if you're on a named/numbered road (including Forest Service roads) you're covered. I got the impression they were more concerned with competitions or off-road parks and the like - the distinction between an OHV only vehicle and just occasional use. The normal timed/competitive events clause is in the policy of course.

Like acidchylde mentioned above, I have geico as well and told them about the big mods (tires/wheels, lift, bumpers, bed cover). They just asked for a cost of all that and that I keep records of them for future use if needed. I was told by a few geico reps that if the truck was totaled or stolen they'd take those extra costs into account when valuing the truck. Not sure that they'd give face value but any percentage of the mods would be worth it if it was stolen.
