^The Chevy should call up its 6-7 platform cousins (Silverado/Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade/Avalanche/Yukon/Yukon XL/H2/Denali...) and have a gang war.

Not aware of Toyota ever getting federal money in the US for anything, though they may have gotten state incentives for building/expanding assembly plants, which is par for the course nowadays. Toyota's bailout money comes from Japanese taxpayers. :D

So maybe my math might not apply due to HP/Torque curves, but some feel our engine is behind in HP compared to the competitors.

The Colorado makes 305 hp @ 6800 rpm
The Tacoma makes 236 hp @ 5200 rpm

    6800 / 305 = 22.295
    5200 / 236 = 22.033

So the Chevy engine makes 0.262 more HP per RPM. Probably not that simple right? :notsure:

Edit: Both trucks make roughly the same torque at the same RPM.

Not gonna lie, the Canyon SLE All Terrain package looks nice. It's a shame it doesn't come with a manual transmission.

The pricing is nuts, at least the Tacoma is known for holding its value and I can't say I would've bought mine without that fact so there is no way I'd pay that for a Cheby that won't hold it's value anywhere near what the Tacoma does. If I was buying a mid size domestic I would expect to do it for the lower price point and we see where that is.

The full size trucks get up to $60k or more these days. Today's full size is pretty much the new Cadillac.

I can't say if it's really worth the $40k, but from the reviews I've been seeing, it does come slightly more, slightly better materials. I imagine the new Tacoma isn't going to be much cheaper. Even some current gen Tacomas (non-TRD Pro) are listed for almost that much. The 4Runner got a $5k and higher price bump when they face-lifted it for 2014.

I paid $28k for mine truck new in 2008, the same truck would now costs $33k.

The pricing is nuts for the whole truck market.

ill probably buy slightly used for life....40k is the most a full size is worth and 33k is pushing it for a midsize... I feel like 30k is good enough

I bought mine new because used Tacomas with 50k+ miles weren't much cheaper.

I'd rather pay the extra $3k for brand new. The Tundras are better deals used. I was recently considering a 2014 Tundra Limited, 60k miles, was $15k cheaper than new.

Still thinking about it, but I don't want to start payments again. It's a Mercedes dealership selling it.
