I have a friend with a 2002 f150 V8 broke down about 3 hours away I'm going to tow him back to his house is it OK to do with my 2014 dclb v6? It's gotta go on a flatbed because it's RWD. Don't want to blow up my truck please help!

Just take it easy, do you have tow package?
you will probably be right on the limit of the truck.
either way, i would do it, but just take it easy.

    Yes,
Unless you have a flatbed don't do it. 3hrs is a long drive, are you willing to be liable for damages caused from towing?

You can use your truck and drive easy or borrow your dad's one ton and do it with ease and no wear or tear on the truck.

I think the towing limits are pretty conservative like everything else they recommend and put in place.

Kinda think ima go with my dad's was just looking to see how my truck would do and save gas in the process I wanna really test my truck on its limits but not sure 3 hours away rescuing a friend is a good idea. I'm still debating with myself just trying to get ideas and thoughts on here before I take off

if your dad doesn't mind, i would definitely go that route.
if he is the type of dad that will give you loads of shit for it, i would just use your own.
your truck should do just fine.

Use your own. You have a truck that can do the job. Don't need to borrow someone else's. No one likes lending their truck no matter what they say.

I wouldn't do it. Tacoma would handle it BUT this is a long way and through some tough terrain. Most guys on here are just about the weight. If you're below 6500 pounds you're good blah blah blah. There are different types of loads, and this full size truck is an awkward one. It's a taller load and will probably sway your smaller truck around a bit especially down hill.

If you don't have a brake controller, don't even think about it. Going down hill your stopping power will be unsafe (hey, real world application for disc brakes being more useful than drums).

You could do it (with brake controller), but you'll have to take it easy and stay safe, turn on hazards down hill and go slow if needed. Your dad's Chevy 3500 will just do it quicker and easier with no stress. A 6.0, 8.1, or diesel 3500 Chev will all get better mpg towing that load than your Tacoma, so you won't save on gas. It'll just be more heartache and you'll be driving puckered the whole time.

not over the grapevine. if it werent for that, you could manage it by taking it easy, but without a break controller I would borrow your dads truck

Haha thanks for all your opinions unfortunately I make all these plans and now my friend decides to spend 800 bux on a tow truck to get back cuz his chick wanted to get home now thank you for the advice and I now am sure I won't tow a load like that unless flat land and brake controller installed
