Yeah, likely quite difficult to go 70. Even with my manual trans and 5.29s I'd get bogged down at highway speeds on the slightest inclines.

If I took it easy and used the torque app, I could average ~ 20mpg highway.

    Yeah, would be fine.

That's why he should get 5.29s. It makes it easier for the motor to turn the wheels.

Trust me going 75 on 33s with 4.10s for me was brutal before. Had to down shift for every hill.

    Hardly have to now.

How do you think 4.56's would be going 75 with a 5 speed?

Guess I should be OK with E rated 265/75r16 with a manual transmission and 4.10 gears. Get better with a supercharger though

I'm running the same setup and it's fine here in hilly PA.

I am going to go with 4.88 when I go to 33's So if I go 35s ever it can still work

    I am a V6 5 speed on 4.10 with 32's now and its fine.

That's good especially since PA is about as hilly as where I live.
Yea, I figured in the flat lands it'll be fine but when a steep hill comes up idk

The big question is, where to buy the front and rear gears from and who to install without making my wallet cry.

I would love to sell my third with e locker for a bigger beefier rear axle with no locker.

I have used my locker all of 2 times in 6 years.

Thanks guys, 5.29's it is. At least it will be better than it is now, hard to even keep it at 45 mph when going up hill (unless I already have the momentum).

I used to have a a TRD supercharger on the Tacoma, converted back to NA when I bought the Tundra. The SC was tons of FUN!!!
I just got my Tacoma back on Saturday - I let a friend borrow it for a month (he had to have a new motor installed in his truck).

I only got to drive it from the street to my back driveway so far

Mounted some Toyo Open Country tires onto a set of 16" wheels I recently purchased ... still need to balance them

Just look at the build thread
I'm on 33s with my V6 but I'm going to be gearing to 5.29s. I'll be overgeared but it'll force me to get 35s when it's time for new tires. Because otherwise, I'll just sit around and dream of 35s instead of actually cutting my truck up to make them work.

Dana 60, would be good. Or a Ford 9" diff both are practically bombproof. And be a pretty cool mod. But that's just me.

I keep wanting to regear my differentials to 4.56 just for future proofing. But every shop I go to either won't do it, or are way to expensive. If I do I'll just buy them assembled that way I just pretty much bolt them in. But I don't think I'll be doing that for some time.

    Not sure about anyone else
But im on 305/70r16 with factory 4.10
Just filled up today and after figuring in the 1% my speedometer is off i got 17.45 mpg
Just keep it between 2-2500 when accelerating
Would a higher gear ratio help me?
My overdrive is like 51 right now as is and most of my driving is between 45-55

Also im a v6 auto double cab

I drive a 5 speed and shifting at 2k-2500k is hilariously slow, I shift in the 3500k mark on the lowest to keep momentum up.

I also go WOT a few times for funzies.

My area is hill central.. freeways and city streets are really hilly all over.
