WOW, XB-70. Hard to believe a F-104 brought her down.

I have looked in the cockpits of the B-58. Tiny, very tiny.

It's been a few days since there's been an update to the Military Hardware thread so...
The Blue Angels A-4F Skyhawks. The Blues switched from the F-4J Phantom II to these attack aircraft as an economy move back in 73. Last picture is an A-4E in combat colors.

My Uncle flew the B-58. He was off flight status for a time due to a bad bail out behind the lines in Korea. The AF did not teach PLF`s to the Martin Baker club.
One xmas we all got the AF desk models.
The super cool solid ones. I still have mine.
He was Air Operations Officer at Udorn when I was in Nam.
I didn`t take the time to see him then. I should have. I had the assets.
Running a Rifle Platoon, with patrol work, is a more than full time job.
But, an NCO is there to handle it. You just don`t want to let go.
I extended 90 days, which turned to 104. But, you can`t stay forever. I was taking too many personel risks by then. It was time to leave. I did not risk my men. I would do the really dangerous stuff myself. Not exactly good leadership. I knew it.
This is bad for you if your cup fills up.
A SNCO or senior officer usually looks after you,
    to save you from yourself.

In 1953-4 in Korea we had AD Skyraiders and F4U's. 40 some years later I sent an email to the Marine Corps to see if my Squadron was still around and they sent me a short history of the squadron since 53. The picture is of a FA/18c in Aviano Italy in 1996! !! I would have loved to work on those babies! !!!

Those were the days, my friend.
We had a draft. Someone knew everything about anything from their civilian life.
Infantry Platoons had experts in all fields.
An Inf. Batt. had the capability to rebuild a port.
    This was proven in Naples.

I posted the SBD Dauntless yesterday. today is the TBD Devastator Torpedo Bomber. In 1937 this aircraft was a frontline advanced Navy aircraft. It was the first all metal, enclosed canopy aircraft in Navy service. It had Hydraulic Folding wings and could carry a 1000 pound torpedo. In the early part of WWII it sank a few warships. But in the battle of Midway, it was slaughtered by the Zero. It was slow and unmanuverable. And the torpedos failed to explode! Of the 41 sent to attack the Japanesse fleet only 6 returned.

    Hey Neon, nice ones.
Here's the V-22! I like this aircraft. It should do well for the U.S.

Here's the F/A-22 again. It looks badass in the air but it looks dorky on the ground!
