I've been with them for 5 or 6 years, it's happened twice. I'm more concerned with the fact 2 times they have lost a significant credit card payment and it took me weeks of calling to get it resolved. It's been good for the past year and I now have an account for my side business with them aswell.

Never had wells Fargo but have heard a lot of bad stories. I'm with chase and last yr they changed my card three times do to fraud. I'm glad they watch my account and do this. With all the card fraud now days no one is safe. Cyber crime is at an all time high and continues to grow. Changing cards and password's often helps but there is no stopping hackers. The odds are still slim that it will happen to you but it happens to millions every day.

Yup for every front door to to the interweb. There is a virtue back door.. My wife watches that new CSI:cyber... Not sure why a TV series would show how to do stuff like that. Confused.

It's a TV show. You think those depictions are accurate?

    Yes hacking exists.

Yes servers need to be running the most up to date versions.

Yes, port numbers that are not in use need to be closed/deactivated/blocked off.

Yes "social engineering" is the easiest way to hack into a system.

Yes, if you can somehow download a password file, you can "brute force" attack it by trying millions of password combinations against it. But if you got the file, then you've already cracked the system.

After those basics which everyone already knows, well, it's all entertainment.

    ...too much shit to list.
This is quite possibly the best suggestion anyone could make. I never use my bank accounts for anything but banking. Credit card for everything. Most lenders offer you the ability to use virtual credit card numbers for online purchases. Easy to get replacement cards if the card is compromised and no wait for funding any fraudulent transactions. Free cash back with every purchase too. I've literally collected thousands of dollars in cash back that I use on Amazon (both Discovery and Citibank offer this) and got over 10 free flights in the last 5 years.

WF sucks a giant donkey dick. The only reason I still have a WF account is because they are my mortgage lender and there is a branch 3 blocks from my house. I switched to Citibank 10 years ago and they've been nothing but awesome. I still use them as my primary bank even though there isn't a local branch anywhere even close to me. Between my two major credit cards, fraudulent charges have happened at least 10 or 15 times in my life. And every single time, Citi or Discovery has caught it before I had any clue. Hell I got a text on my way to Moab last year because of so many gas purchases in 1 day that they wanted to confirm it wasn't fraudulent.

Security breaches and compromised cards happen. It's just a fact of the society we live in. It's a lot easier to swallow when it's only "virtual money" with a credit card that you can get a new account number and charges reversed immediately rather than wait for your actual cash in your bank account to be funded. IMO, everyone should have and use a credit card. If you're going to be spending money, why not get something extra in return (cash back/points/miles/whatever). Pick one or two major lending cards, use them for everything, pay it off immediately and you'll never pay interest as long as you pay your statement within the grace period.
