    I know the answer. its actually kind of an interesting story as to y they made those. only 264 were made in 1996

    Looks like they mixed up the components during assembly.

    If I saw that on the street, my first thought would be that they repeatedly replaced damaged parts from donor cars of different colors.

    8.5 Fisher XV2, some switches, some lights.
    It's funny, because you see VW's of that vintage running around with different colored doors, hatches, fenders and hoods, but it's usually because the originals rusted and got replaced
    Maybe VW was trying to get ahead of the curve, so that when your car rusted and you had to replace panels it wasn't as obvious. :notsure:
