Okay so the truck is totally fine Just thought Id share the story and get some opinions before it gets taken in for repair.

    The story
Drove onto campus to work on an engineering project, my girlfriend was with me and needed to go get dog food literally across the street from campus. I let her take the truck no big deal. 5 mins later i get a text of random letters followed by a text "your going to kill me" So i call her and she says the was just in a hit and ran at the main entrance to the school. Carless I hike to the other side of campus to see my truck and a cop up on the sidewalk.

    The damage
The "damage is a black mark on one of the fender flares and barely on the paint between the bumper. The bumper has some hairline scratches and where the bumper meets the paint there is a spot where the paint is raw and barely scratched. The bumper may be slightly bent however I really can't tell.

    story continued
My girlfriend had already called the police and reported the entire thing and managed to get the cars tag number and everything. The damage is not bad at all and honestly IMO it will buff out. But I asked the cop about getting a report ect for my insurance and she shut me down saying "you will be paying for this out of pocket, there is no way we will ever find the guy who did it" WE HAVE THE TAG NUMBER!?

So the cop has me stressed out although I talked to my insurance and I have coverage for hit and run so I won't be paying for anything but just a couple of questions, will the police really not follow up on this even if we have the entire tag number?

Also Im planning on getting some fender flares later down the road should I try to go ahead and replace now and really milk this insurance thing since its already reported?

Here is the only picture the rest honestly you can't see in pics, although it does look worse in person. photo-2_zpsvluxiuqv_1defa9c5804b10ebc43bab34c7599f881cf22fc0.jpg

Haha I'm totally with you! Like if I backed into a pole and did that I would go buff it out and not worry about it lol

BUTTT since it is reported already and not my fault I'm really trying to make this a opportunity to improve the truck not just repair lol

File a complaint if the police don't follow up on the tag number. Lazy pigs.

    That's odd...

When I got run off the road into a guard rail last summer, the first thing the police asked is if I happened to see/remember the tag number.

Don't listen to the cop, talk to your insurance, explain and give them the tag #, they should do something.
Also call the police station ask to talk to a supervisor, tell the supervisor about officer Lazyass not wanting to follow up on a hit and run, with the tag #.

    Campus police

If they won't follow up, then file a report with the local PD or sheriff. Campus PD jurisdiction won't extend off-campus, but the local PD/sheriff jurisdiction will extend onto the campus.

I forgot to mention it was technically "CAMPUS POLICE" and I'm currently waiting for the case number or report or whatever as they said it would take them at least 48 hours to process it.

I assumed you gave the tag to your insurance, then they will follow up that incident. So they can get their money back from other insurance. But they will not tell you when they got it.

Good info on giving the tag number to my insurance, also I'm reporting it on my insurance instead of my girlfriends because 1. Im not getting dinged or charged for anything 2. my insurance is really chill (my aunt is like the office manager) so if i wanted to upgrade to fender flares they would let me just pay the difference.

Nice truck, sad to see it looks bad.
My wife loves to drive my truck it runs
So smooth and speedy but rite after
I converted from auto to a 5 speed manual
She never drives my truck again not even once.
Truck is taller and harder to drive take wider turns
Now 1 less driver on my truck.

When I was going to ASU my friend and I had some crazy drunk kid following us wielding a knife and threatening us. followed us back to the dorms and campus police was there but refused to do anything other than call the real police. They just stood there as the guy was waving the knife at us. When the real police showed up they put him down hard (since he threatened the police and threw a punch at them when they approached him. The Police told us they knew him from previous encounters.

Bottom line campus police will do NOTHING!

speaking of campus police, they really do nothing. I remember back in college this girl in a 6in lifted taco puledl in at the gym parking lot and sideswiped the car next to her as she was coming in. Sits in the truck texting for a bit while everyone is watching and drives away.

Long story short, a few people approached the campus police with the plates and really could not do anything. Saw the truck a few days later with some touch up paint to the hit areas.

My wife drove my truck for about two minutes on vacation, caught a big rock, cracked the crap out of the windshield, and has been afraid to drive it ever since.

So campus police are useless and its nice to see some other cases of why we shouldn't let women drive.

But what do y'all think about milking this into replacing the fender and possibly the bumper? The bumper does have small scratches and a little cut in the plastic which they wouldn't be able to fix although its not noticeable what so ever...

And if they decide to replace one fender I'm going full fender flares
