    well since everyone is crazy over grill mods lately I thought I'd finally put my twist on it this weekend.

    First pic...paint matched aerosol cans over my formerly chrome grill surround. Kept the insert as I'm not sure if I'm gonna do anything with that. Grill surround sanded, prime +3, basecoat +4, clearcoat +3. Did the lower valence two weeks ago (satin blk)

    Next pic...Toy inlay in red (matches my V6 emblem on the tail), Toy emblem in gloss black. Sorry for the glare.

    Very happy with the results. The paint form autotouchup matched perfect and went on very nicely. The final test will be the polishing compund next weekend...that should shine up nice.

    rightspy, did you buy the 12oz aerosol? And the primer and clear, also from automotivetouchup.com or did you buy them locally? The sanding, did you remove all the "chrome" or just rough it up?

    And I seriously thought I was going to see a set of trucknutz on your grille...

    only bought the 12oz basecoat from autotouchup. The primer and clearcoat are both Home Depot Rustoleum.

    I just really roughed up the chrome from 150 grit to 600 grit wet sand. It's all in the prep and thin application of each coat. My experience with painting plastic is that once you reach the actual plastic you have to strip it 100% or you can always tell the plastic from the old paint. So, I always just rough it up really good and then smooth out the old paint with wet sand.
