This is not a "goodbye" or "got rid of the Tacoma because it sucks" thread, so please don't waste mine and your time by saying something like "good riddance" or "you'll be back". Just simply sharing the news that after 5.5 years and 140,000 miles, I said goodbye to the Tacoma. It was a great truck, and I don't have a single bad word to say about it. In all those miles, I only had to replace 1 wheel bearing, and otherwise just did normal maintenance (outside of my wreck/theft experiences). The only reason I got rid of it was because I needed more space and towing, and it didn't work for my situation anymore. I wish I had the space/money to keep both trucks around!

The new truck is a 2015 F150 King Ranch 4x4. It has the 5.0 with 3.55 gears. Totally different demographic than the Tacoma, but holy hell is this thing comfortable, quiet, and just all around awesome. So far I'm at 24 MPG overall, with only 30 miles on it.

I will be sticking around the forum and helping out where I can and checking out everyone's builds. Hopefully the new owner of my old truck will become a member and I can see it again! Pics of old and new:

Sweet new ride, are you going to keep it stock? Definitely room for bigger tires. Keep those leather seats conditioned, ford leather cracks and ages fast, from what I have seen.

I got rid of my Tacoma over the weekend. I feel your pain. It was a tough decision. I got a new job with a long commute and needed something with better gas mileage. Sorry to see you get rid of your truck too.

Here's my Tacoma that I'm missing dearly

Sorry if this is too off-topic, and no disrespect to the OP (congrats on the new truck, keep us posted on any mods/how you're settling in to it!)

I just can't help but think that if I was a dictator in some small country and had a raging hard-on for western culture I would entertain myself by purchasing a King Ranch, Plating the wheels with gold and just drive through houses all day long. Sure, the people of my country would be terrified and loath me.. but I'd be King.. King of the ranch.. free to drive through anyone's living room wall.. and if godforbid I didn't hit too many support structures and the house remained standing I'd be King of their living room while I had a picnic on the living room floor.

God, I bet kim-jung would give up half his pet ostriches just to go for a spin in the outwardly rugged, yet comfortably furnished mythic beast that is the King Ranch. I mean look at those pictures! The seats look like thrones and the leather is perfectly in between the yellowness of kim-jung and the chocolate sepia of dennis rodman.. the truck is truly a masterpiece of modern automotive truckedness!

When I bought my Tacoma I was looking very hard at a 2007 F150 King Ranch for about the same money. It had a few more miles, but man, that truck was NICE! Congrats on the new truck!

the new aluminum bodied F150 is awesome. Apparently members here only flame people for trading to a Ram.

How much did they give your for your Tacoma?

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I must say I'm pleasantly surprised - usually anything non-Tacoma gets flamed. The seats are awesome, and probably my favorite single thing about the truck. The leather is real, genuine stuff, so very soft and durable (with care, of course). They gave me $15,000 for the Tacoma, equal to about $17,000 if I had sold on my own with the sales tax gain. My Tacoma was an 09 with a big wreck and a theft on its record, 140,000 miles, bad radio, but otherwise excellent condition. It was the price I asked for, so I'm happy. I also got the Ford for $500 under invoice plus rebates, so about $7000 off the sticker price, on a brand-new model that I custom ordered. All in all, very happy with the deal and the salesman was AWESOME.

My Mustang gets most of my fun money, and my truck has to be my dependable DD, tow/hauler, and road trip car. So it will stay mostly stock for a while. Once the tires and shocks wear out, I'll put on some 5100s and 34-35s, but that will be awhile. I've already got Husky liners front and rear, Line-X and a Fold-a-Cover G4 for it. Then tint, and drive.

It has some big shoes to fill in order to be as reliable as the Tacoma. That truck will always hold a special place to me!

After negotiations and rebates, I paid $51k for the truck. The sticker was $58,400. That doesn't include trade or down payment, so my loan is nowhere near that. They aren't cheap, that's for sure. But I get some money from work for it, so my out of pocket isn't the whole amount.

EDIT: Also, obviously this is a pretty fully loaded one. You could easily get into a nice Lariat or loaded XLT for low/mid $40s.
