Canada BS Thread

Middle class in Canada is probably around $65-90k combined family income.

The tfsa is being raised to $10k and there are many many families that can't afford the current $5k/year. May be easy(er) for dual income with no children to invest $5000/year (5k after income tax dollars that is) but just finding any money is tough for a lot of people out there.

 

Holy shit! Fuck ya aaaaa! That's great news for me, but I agree that's BS for some people. Although your forgetting the amount of gain different companies and people will get from more money invested. Will be interesting though

Yeah, I'm 28 too. No rental properties for me. Some pf my friends have done well renting but honestly a few of them have lost there shirts too.

 

Vancouver always chokes. You should be accustom to that by now.

 

As for the comment about kids, family is its own investment. This year I took close to 5 K from a few pay checks and threw it in my wifes TFSA for our daughter and any unforeseen expenses.

 

Ya but it's the backbone of many jobs and careers really when you think about it.

 

For my career I could really use a good market crash. Usually food commodities go up in value during crashes while input prices fall. It's the perfect storm for anyone in agriculture.

 

I know some people too but it's really setup to be bullet proof if you do you do diligence. The system is all there and you just make sure you are picking the right people. We're have been having great luck so far but ya nothing is a guarantee.

 

Gold is where my money is in right now. I feel a crash coming to be honest

 

I watched a report on California buyers looking to Canada for fruits and veggies this year

 

There are a few multimillion dollar greenhouse projects being discussed locally right now.

I'm going back to California for work in September for a week. It'll be intetesting to talk to some growers down there again.

So my mom working for at&t for 15 years just got a weeks notice she lost her job along with everyone in canada and most people in the US. All because of being fined 25 million because shit call centre's and companies in Asia sold information on them who worked for them. What a fucking joke

 

Oh ya for sure but it's funny how the cuts always come here first

Bulk water exports via pioeline from Canada aren't going to happen

 

Water is the property of the crown. Didn't someone try to start shipping water by boat and the government swatted it down immediately.

 

It's not deemed a good under NAFTA , and yes there was an idea to ship water from BC by tanker to California IIRC
