    That's awesome!

Cobalt SS is going to be one of those cars everyone looks back on and wonders why they didn't get more credit (or buy one when they were plentiful). The base Cobalt was a bit of a punching bag, but that car was so much more than the sum of its parts. IIRC it posted a crazy time on the 'Ring, right?

Assuming it's no longer in the stable?

Yup held the record for fwd car on the 'ring for a while until some stripped and caged Renault unseated it.

Unfortunately I sold it. Having to drive to freeport,me a few times a week year round necessitated 4wd

Yeah we could meet right in the front parking lot of Bass Pro Shop. Where they do the car shows on Thursday nights. Bring whoever you want and for food I was thinking about going to Toby Keiths. They have great burgers as well as other stuff there to eat.

    Morning, Faces. Happy Hump Day!

That's the problem with the Turbo FWD's. If it's snowing, they'll try to kill you as soon as you touch the go pedal.
Guy I used to work with had an SRT Neon for a while. Thing was shit in the snow. You couldn't even touch the gas without the turbo kicking in and breaking traction; he always had to keep it 2 gears high in bad weather.
Such Turbo. Much Woosh. So Spin. Very Suck.

Plus his strategy for navigating snowy streets was 'More Throttle = More Better' which didn't help matters.

Ya the srt neons had a huge turbo with some nasty turbo lag. The cobalt had a much smaller variable vane turbo do you got 80% of hp/tq at 2000rpm instead of having to rev it out and then getting the huge hit from the turbo. I never drove it in the winter, but a small fwd car with 320 ftlb tq would be pretty goofy in the snow. Even with the gear driven lsd I had I it it would but have been too fun.

A 50 year old guy I work with is a huge dodge fan boy. He has 2 srt 4s and a srt 8 super bee. He drives both 4s in the winter. Neither one is stock, winter tires make all the difference.

Meh I would go through at least a pair of tires a season, if not more in the cobalt. I didn't feel like getting snow tires for it too. My 92 pickup runs 14" wheels. Tires are super cheap, especially snow tires. Plus using the truck in the winter made it a whole lot easier to work on the car. No rust is a nice thing.

I can't even process going through tires that fast. Were you running something like Azenis? I bought my STi with 16K and it still had the factory RE070s on it, which were decently fast wearing tires. I kick myself I didn't keep them when I swapped for the original ContiExtremeContacts. I've got a set of takeoff 2011+ BBS with the stock Dunlop Sport SP600 tires and I loathe them. My car sounds like it has 4 bad wheel bearings now, they're easily 4-5x as loud as my BFGs.

I fully understand the rust situation. My STi has been driven in winter so while the body and especially the quarter panels are completely clean (I monitored them inside and outside), I do have a bit of surface rust underneath that drives me absolutely up a wall. It's half the reason I wanted to sell the car in the first place and get something like a Z that has never seen a winter.
