April 24-26 Slick Rock Camping/Wheeling

Gonna try and remember the extra tent. Those of you with tarps should bring them to cover wood/fire/people, etc.

 

Might try to caravan with you if that's alright. What city/area would you be leaving from?

I shouldn't be worried about my gears exploding from being under geared right?

 

That could work too. As long as we get to Tracy by 1500 we should be ok.

I'm using weather.gov for bear valley and getting:

"A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Little or no snow accumulation expected."

At any rate, come prepared: Warm clothing. Waterproof outer layer. Hiking boots. Sleeping bag. Gallon of drinking water per person. High energy foodstuffs.

 

Gah. Not a good way to start morning. I'm showing 90% chance snow and rain Saturday on weather underground

 

Let's keep an eye on it, but the forecast is gonna keep changing.

No point in taking a go/no go decision any earlier than Friday morning.

No matter what - like I posted above, plan on packing prepared for safe travel in inclement weather.

Yeah totally not ready for a go/no go. We always travel prepared. Ended up buying some new waterproof boots for slush and rain. Bringing my snow boots too both winter jackets...

 

I'm not going to SlickRock, but FWIW I always use noaa.gov. They have consistently been the most accurate, especially within 72 hours. I got the same forecast as Steve.

 

Im down to camp in the snow but if conditions are bad in the morning I may not run the trail. If the trail is wet/snowy body damage is going to happen.

It would suck but I know there will be another slickrock trip this summer.
