Gray wire mod, 4" coil lift, 2" block lift+2" AAL, rear air bags, re-located trailer wiring plugs, trail gear front bumper, kicker sound w/pioneer in-dash, 8" kicker sub, airaid MIT kit, trail gear rock sliders, arrow antenna, blacked out grille, HID kit, Smittybilt 8k winch, extended brake lines, LED overhead lighting, LED turn signals, Explorer Rock Lights, removable doors, Re-wired 4x4, Roof Rack
So I have installed my K&N kit and I have poor performance mostly weak acceleration from it. I am confused as to what is going on. Sounds great though!

Well yeah I knew it wouldn't help performance much if at all but I didn't think it would damage my performance...any thoughts?

    too much bs here

OP did you disconnect the battery cable
to allow the cpu to recalibrate ?

Clean the maf prior to swapping that in ?

    Everything is correctly installed ?

I've had my fipk installed since 2000
and ignore the bs negative chatter.

    I have no performance issues...
and my 15 yr. old junk still runs as good as day one...
the fipk offers better throttle response/control IMO.

All the bs folk complain about...
is more likely due to incompetence then design flaw.

I have the factory original AB with deck plate as well.
And have ran that in comparison.

But it's sitting on a shelf collecting dust...
    because I prefer my fipk.

I think you can just pull the 15A fuse for the MAF sensor I haven't done that yet I'll update later today once I do it. Did you notice any difference between the deck plate mod and the CAI?

I'd guess they're equally noisy. I don't recall any hard proof that the deckplate changes HP output besides butt dynos. IN any case, pretty much any bolt on mod that *adds up to 15hp* never mentions that 0 is in that up to 15 number. So is 0.1, 0.2 etc. And even adding 5 hp to a car engine is pretty much negligible, especially if that 5hp comes in at WOT as many do. Unless you spend all your driving time at WOT, in which case you're probably annoying to ride with

You pull the 20 amp yellow ecu fuse before un installing the old and after everything is back in you replace it.

reset the computer and typically takes a day for mine to pick up the driving patterns.

I swap my OEM intake with deck plate to an AEM brute force CAI from time to time, the AEM system is louder and gets a little better mpg 1-2 on the freeway and feels a little smoother in the mid range RPMS for acceleration.

I run the OEM system cause the noise is obnoxious.

The deck plate on a stock system is barely louder and really does nothing.

I have headers and exhaust too but noticed nothing.

I also deleted the elbow and closed the side of the intake.

So have I really fucked up cause I didn't pull the fuse first? Or can I just pull it now and all that?

Any time you pull power from the computer it should default to baseline and then start adjusting. Do it 10x a day if you want, won't hurt anything. Just leave it dead for a few minutes. A quick disconnect may not reset the computer. It will take several restarts of the engine and a few hundred miles to *learn* your driving and make adjustments so you shouldn't see any major changes right away.

Many years ago I threw pretty much every bolt on part I could find at my jeep, I think if you added up all the claims my little 4.0 made as much hp as the space shuttle launching  I still couldn't use 5th gear on the interstate. I could have (should have) regeared for the same money and been actually happy with the results. My taco isn't fast, will never be fast. I find slow loud vehicles annoying. Plus hunting, offroading etc, quiet is much better so stock exhaust etc. My mustang is fairly quick, it can be loud. Plus it sounds nice with the top down.

Yeah this is my first "performance" mod. Everything else has been just piling on big chunks of steel for protection and whatnot

Thats why my daily driver is bone stock and will always be as far as bolt ons go.

The only mods I have done are struts, springs, brakes, wheels, tires, tint and a drop in Pro Dry S AFE filter in the stock box.

Hondata ECU tune will be my only engine mod.

CAI is one of the biggest rip-off mods that exists.

If the premise behind the tech were true, wouldn't we all be faster in the winter?
