Stock were the conti extreme contacts. Then I went to dunlop star specs which were the hot new performance tire at the time. Star specs were pretty soft so they didn't last that long. Especially not with what I was using the car for

 

try running BF Goodrich g-force t/a kdws. Those things were louder than the mud terrains on my tacoma

 

I knew a few guys with the kdws. You're right, you could hear them coming from like a mile away

 

We carry a Dunlop Direzza DZ102, which is basically the same thing. People are always calling in saying their customers are complaining about how fast they've worn out.
We're always like "It's a W-rated directional UHP tire. And you put it on a Turbo'd car... with a body kit. What the hell did you expect?!"

 

Ya I didn't expect more than 4 months or so out of a set. But I knew that full well when buying them. Wasn't buying them for longevity, bought them cause they are basically slicks with a little siping so you don't die in the rain

 

Yeah, but you probably did your research. These guys are bitching that the shoulders are scrubbed off of the front wheels after six months of understeering through the curves playing boy racer (usually with zero rotations), and for some reason they think it's a problem with the tires.

Star Specs were quite the tire when they first came out. The new ones are high up on my list to check out once I get around to replacing the tires on the STi. I also want to look into the Bridgestone RE-11's.

Oh, I'm sure. I cannot believe how loud the tires I have are. I literally mounted the wheels, drove about 200 feet and pulled over because I thought I was rubbing. I went from a 225/45-17 on a 17x8 to a 245/40-18 on a 18x8.5, so I thought I was having clearance issues.
