Hey guys, I posted here a few days ago in another thread, I wasn't sure of exactly what I wanted and I was very sloppy, not to mention i'm not a car expert as you will see.

Anyways I originally intended to get a 6" lift on a 4 cylinder tacoma, some nice black TRD 19" rims, and some good tires, then eventually a MX Series Mesh Grill, and some Wetokole Seat covers, as well as maybe a tonneau cover.

I went in to two places today asking them about a 4" lift and a 6" lift, both of the places told me they could do them for almost the same price, for around 2200$, and then I went on to ask them about some rims and tires and the price went up to then around 4000$.

Originally I didn't expect the rims and tires to be that much from the research that I did. I thought I could get a nice pare of TRD rims for around $600-700 and then tires would be around $500-700.

Now my question is for my current budget, around 2500$ what exactly should I do? I really want my truck lifted and I really do need new rims and tires by far. If y'all were in my situation what would you do?

I desperately need advice and help on this from pros, obviously that would be yall so all opinions are welcomed!

Also would a 3" lift by any chance not cost as much as a 4"?
And if so, what could I do to bump up the height of the truck other then a body lift?

    Thanks guys!

Don't have them install your lift or your rims and tires buy all the parts and host a mod day and have plenty of beer and food for people to come over and help you out with anything you need and call around about mounting the tires on the rims some shops will do it for cheap like 20 bux a tire call the places back and ask how much just parts are and see if it would then be in your price budget also check for rims and tires even used on here and your local craigslist

Are you looking to off road at all? Drop bracket (DB) lifts aren't going to work well offroad unless you spend a lot more money on it, which in your case doesn't seem to be an option.

Same with tires, are you going to off road? If you're doing a 6" lift you're going to want AT LEAST 33" tires, and in my opinion 35's would look a lot better, there's too much wheel well space with 33's if you ask me. However, 35's will require re-gearing, which isn't cheap. Tires should also run you around $1000 since 265's are going to look small on your truck and the bigger the tire is, the more expensive the tire is.

As for rims, around $800 is going to be what you'll spend on any set of aluminum rims. You can spend more or less, as for TRD's, I think they're around that $700-$800 mark. And if you do plan on off roading, I'd go with a 16" or 17" rim rather than a 19" rim.

For your price range, if it were me since like you said "If y'all were in my situation what would you do?", I'd personally invest a $1000 in a good set of tires for mud and sand since you're in texas and you don't need to worry about snow and ice. Then I'd go with a 3" lift such as Old Man Emu (OME) or one of Icon's various "stages" of lifts, they increase in price and quality.

Don't get new rims. And for 265/75R16 tires you are looking at a minimum of $1000 if you get some decent All Terrains. Get the Bilstein adjustable lift kit and set it around 1.75 or 2. Do the rear AAL. Should hopefully be able to do that without getting New Upper Contraol Arms which start at about $400.

$1080 for 5 BFG All Terrain T/A KO2 installed tomorrow (for me)
The Bilstein kit can be had from toytec for $625
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Bilstein-Adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks_p_132.html

that leaves you roughly $795 for seat covers, installation costs (however the lifts are easy to install if you and some buddies know the basics) or that grille you want.

And 19"s are stupid especially on a 4 banger.

Haha, I just think once you're over the 17" mark you are trying to be a pavement pounder. Especially in the area I live. It's mostly wannabe thugs and white kids that want to be thugs.

No I agree completely, 17" rims are as big as you should go. I was trying to subtle about it in my first comment haha. Especially on a truck, show your tires off, don't hide em behind massive rims.

    For sure!!!

    Plus OP,
On a 4banger you're going to lose a lot of power really quick as the lift and tires get bigger. And putting on a big wheel is not going to help. 3" lift (but you will need new UCA's which run about $400 to start) and tires will bring you right around $2,000-$2,500. It will be clean looking and you can upgrade your wheels later.

But your truck so make it your dream and post pics as you go.

How much do you think those 3" lifts would cost?

OME would run about $1100-$1200 with full Dakar leaf pack replacement. Otherwise it can be had for about $800 with AAL. The Icons start at like $1500 (I think).

I might be able to go over my budget around 500 dollars, or even more.
I really do need new rims, the current ones that came with the vehicle when I bought them aren't the best at all, I hate to just talk about looks too but they really do make my truck look bad.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-Toyota-F...F-5-/281419869520?hash=item4185ee6d50&vxp=mtr

I've been keeping an eye out on these rims, and from what everyone is saying 19" rims are way to much, so would a 3" lift and these be good if I could go over my budget?

Another very stupid question, so if I go through with a 3" lift for around 1200$ Is there any thing else other then getting bigger wheels that could lift my truck up more other then a full body lift?

Yes sir, I do have the pre runner package.

Does anyone have any pictures of 3" lifted tacomas that I could look at to get at an idea of what it would look like?

    Thanks again guys!

Yes, not anything major but some mediocre off-road driving. Nothing major or big, and I understand it may be stupid to waste a lot of money on lifting my truck if I won't be doing a lot of major off-roading but I feel like in the future I will be doing it a lot more and frequently.

I'll confess, I've never driven a 4 cylinder Taco, but I'm guessing putting bigger and heavier rims and tires on it is going to put a damper on your performance. I'd really check the weight on your wheel and tire setup before committing to it.

I asked because I'm not sure you'd want to put a body lift on your truck if you plan to off road, body lifts are generally for looks if you ask me. I'm all for lifting your truck just for looks, it's just doing it right for what you plan on doing in your truck. With that being said, with your budget and since you said you plan to off road more frequently in the future, I'd stick with a 3" lift and build your truck around that to handle what you'll run into when off road.
