    In Alberta they are switching from aqueducts to 4 x 48" pvc pipes. It saves 20-30 percent of the water for actual uses instead of seeps while still moving about the same amount of water. It also provides free pump pressure or power generation downstream.

    We have one of the most advanced irrigation systems in the world. We harness energy from our irrigation system to power most of the system carbon neutral.

    We have to get every drop of water we can if we want to keep shipping wheat, potatoes, canola, mustard, etc to the world.

    Want to know our most water intensive crop? Non GMO alfalfa seed. We grow it because the USA contaminated there supply and the world doesn't want it GMO.

    It plays into the link about water usage, if it's developed, the water usage from the oil sands will increase. And you can bet it will be developed soon (10 years would be my guess) considering how much money Saskatchewan and the rest of Canada will make off of it. The Canadian dollar is an oil dollar, and since there's oil to be drilled/mined for, water usage is only going to increase along with the problems stated in that link.

    There's a difference between drilling and mining dumb ass. For someone who knows so much you think you'd know the difference between the two. Drilling pumps steam into the ground and is not as invasive. Mining uses open pits and then the steam is used back at a central facility.

    Drilling and recapture is the way of the future.
