Yup. 3" long 2" aluminum roundstock. its pretty hefty but the whole setup is still lighter than the stockers. without taking anything else into consideration, I will be starting off with 2"s of drop because of the shorter than stock overall length. no, engineering on this puppy. just trial and error.

Heads up on the bags situation. the bags were rubbing the abs sensor wire clip on the back of the blocks. got 1" spacer blocks in the mail from TR's tom. if that don't help them clear, I'm going to move to the next hole on the bottom bracket. also trying to get in touch with airlift and ridetech to see if they have longer 4" bags.

Going to also revisit the cut spindle project. I figured out a way I think would fix the steering tie rod angle, sway bar endlink location, and upper ball joint location. hopefully I can get to it in a couple weekends.

Well, they ain't in yet. Gotta wait til next Thursday to see how it fits. My extra blocks should here too by then. I think my suspension is going to take me til end of summer with all the stuff I'm planning to fab. Was going to get those tundra racing rear discs and upgrade the valve body but we'll see. Ain't going to be soon. I don't think I'll ever get around to mounting a turbo like you guys.

 

its funny though cause you have the suspension set up i need to go with my truck. Im gonna run it stock for now though. if anything ill add a RSB in the back to help with the handling. your setup is looking good though.

 

mean build, I was wondering how much you additional length you needed? I wonder if a front strut spacer from a leveling kit would have worked.?

 

If you're talking about the ones that go on the coil and under the hat then that won't work. The shocks max extension would still be too short. If I got the ones that go between the frame and strut then those won't work either. The pivot at the top of the coil over would end up changing the strut angle which would add a lot of sideways force. Kind of like how people bend the bottom of the factory shocks.

 

Damn!!! Iven made that? Sick! I saw the blank stock at his place before it was fab'd. Looks like it came from a factory!!!

 

Haha. It did! TW east side factory. The sad part is, I haven't had a chance to put them in yet. Was planning to wait til Thursday night but thinking of pulling an all nighter tomorrow.

 

I was thinking of the one between the frame mount and the strut, but Now I see what you're talking about with the upper pivot. Thank God for the machinist hook ups!

Nice. How's it feel?

 

Feels pretty good. Just added 1" spacers to the rear so I'm sitting pretty level. 30-1/2" front 31-1/2" rear ground to middle bottom of fender. Finally got to use the qa1's the way they are supposed to. Adjusted both the fronts and rears to match. Before, because of the nature of the suspension, one always felt looser than the other. Now, it's dialed in to a pretty firm ride without being stiff and jarring. I believe I'm at 10 in the front and 8 in the back. Still bottom out occasionally but fairly rare. There's no rocking on acceleration our diving on braking. I'm actually really happy so far. I can't pound the corners just yet, i haven't fixed my spindle angle issues so I'll probably clean of all my wheel weights with my sway bar if I try. I am going to be trying out a different airbag but I probably won't get to it for another week. Those are my expensive ass bump stops.

Really happy with the parts and work so far. The end seems near (suspension wise). Wish I could've taken a pic but no chance for photo op this evening.

 

You ever think of using Dyna beads for your tire weight? The. No need worry about the wheel weights coming off

 

+1 for dyna-beads. if you get them, it's easier to break the bead to install vs slow feeding though the valve.

 

Couple reasons I haven't really thought about it. I'm on the fence about getting new wheels/tires. No reason to not to like these tires but the wheels just don't seem right. I'd really like to try out those 20" 4runner wheels because they're narrower and would look like they'll fill the wheelwell better but I don't think I can convince anyone to take them off their wife's car. Plus the fact I designed the spindle chop wrong in the first place is bugging me. The wheel weights are the least of my problem. In fact they're forcing me to not pound turns and destroy the wheels so they're kind of keeping a problem from getting worse.

The turn that'll make them hit is the viaduct tunnel turn heading west. If I hit that at 60, all kinds of bad things happen. 45 is no problem but damn its hard after all the work I've put into the suspension.

They look great! Still undecided what to do with the 4runner. Wife wants to keep the wheels, but I still want to put BFDs on it...

 

No worries. I haven't made up my mind yet either. hopefully I can get some good pics up and see what you guys think. I think the big tires make it look beefier but takes away from the dropped look.

 

Coming along good. If u ever solve spindle problem let me know if u like try my 4runner replicas. There 20x 8.5 +25 I believe.
