Yeah, I know... It's been 6 months and the dealer was pestering me for the first service. So I figured that they could do that and fix the horrible headlight aiming. (they both point into the left lane...)

Anyway the truck has a whopping 1500 miles, and it got it's first oil change..

The advisor asked if I wanted the extended maintenance plan... 4 years or 75K miles for $400.

I think that yearly oil changes will be sufficient. lol

Is it four years after the 2 or up, or is he being sneaky and saying you can get 4 years from today for $400? If so, not a good deal because you can get an additional 2 years for $299.

What exactly do they do for you for the extended maintenance plan?

Is it just oil changes? Spark plug changes at 30K too?

Includes the sparks. Another lady on the forum extended it and had the sparks done. But seems some dealers arent sure and you may have to pester them.

    I don't care what they do... At 3K miles a year, I'll get 1 oil change...lol

With the MINI, I got 3 years of all maintenance, that included a set of front and rear rotors and pads, coolant, sparks, brake fluid flush... You know, actual maintenance... What they were offering was glorified oil changes. No thanks.

I'll keep the money that plan would have cost in the bank, and have a nice vacation later...

FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY SAY....

If you think a MINI is a chick car, man are you wrong. Yes a lot of women drive them, but they are absolutely a blast, and a beast in the snow. (with snow tires) It's a great car... You should really go test drive one...

The M3 is another animal altogether.

And yes, I own a Taco, a MINI and a M3, along with an Italian sport bike.. The Taco is the farm truck, absolutely no fun to drive at all. It's a conveyance of loads. Period. I'd have to think about killing myself if I had it as an only vehicle. (or ANY Toyota for that matter, possible exception would be a Scion FRS, but it would get a turbo real quickly. And it's not really a Toyota, more of a red headed step child with Subaru...)

Crazy talk ! Why you on this forum if you hate the Taco so much.

I dont care if the mini pulled 9 second quarters and sub three 0-60's, its still a bonafide chick car, right up there with a Jetta, Bug and cabriolet. And when you say beast in the snow, do you mean a dusting of snow, because the chick down the block from me has a mini and she couldnt get out of her driveway when there was 6 inches on the ground.

M3's are beats. If I had the money would get that in a hardbeat.

    +1 Mini's are fun cars.

I drive my truck because I use it as a truck. I drive my bmw because it's a blast to drive. Unfortunately, it's no m3.

Don't bash the guy for driving a Mini. I'm afraid to try one. I'd prolly bring one home. Something like the Countryman in green w white top is cool...no matter how big your internet nutz swing.

Now. The negative Toyota / Tacoma comment. Wasn't cool.

I didn't say anything negative about the Taco. It's a good truck. But it's a truck. I have yet in my life (58 years) driven a truck that was fun to drive. They are TRUCKS. Fun was not a design parameter. I've driven fast trucks. (BMW X6M, Porsche Cayenne T... and yes they are trucks...) But they are not fun to drive. Fast as hell, but not a lot of fun. (for normal, daily driving on the street)

I also know several women that now drive C7 vetts. Does that make it a chicks car? The 1964 Mustang was designed as a chick car. Does that make the Boss 302, or the Shelby 350 chick cars? And just because one woman doesn't know how to drive, (or doesn't equip the car with real snow tires) Isn't the cars fault... My MINI will go anywhere in snow until it's plowing with the front bumper. It also puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Again, I've got nothing bad to say about the Taco. It's probably the best smaller truck out there. I'm here to learn and share MY experiences.

I had a Cooper for several years, it was a great car and with snow tires it was awesome in the snow (on all-season it was awful, but so is everything). The maintenance plan was excellent on it as well, the entire time I owned it the only thing I ever had to do was put tires on it, everything else was covered by the plan.

I love my Tacoma and it's more practical and will more than likely be more reliable than the Cooper was, but I still miss having something sporty. The Tacoma is fun for sure, but it's a different kind of fun since it fills a different niche.

As for the maintenance plan from Toyota, the dealer didn't really give me a good explanation on it so I just went with whatever they gave me with the truck and chose not to extend it. I figure if it works out I can add it in the future or just end up doing most of the maintenance myself.

I love my Tacoma with a passion. I will admit, my main love is the functionality of the truck. I've used it for several things, hauling, working out of and a little bit of off roading and its fun during those times. But day to day, i'll have to agree, its not set up for "fun" its set up to best the best truck ever made and it does prove that time and time again.

I owned a Maxima before this and my girlfriend bought it from me, I still drive it and it is SO much fun for me! Because its a "sport model" SV. I own a motorcycle, it is so much fun to ride it! However, neither of those vehicles allow me the all around functionality of the Tacoma and in the end, Tacoma wins!

I actually said, I'd have to kill MYSELF if it was my ONLY vehicle. Not that it was bad or I didn't like it. I own it because I have to. I need a small truck.

But take the rose colored glasses off for a minute.

It doesn't handle well, it's noisy, it gets 20 mpg if you're gentle with it (V6 4x4), the brakes stink, (see all the ABS sucks threads?), the frame will rust, a preschooler can steal your tail gate, the diff bearings howl. It's a truck. And I own one..lol It is not what I would chose to drive everyday unless I had too.

    Just saying..
