I have some original production TC upper arms, they are slightly too short, and i am unable to get my camber > -1.5.

Would your shop be willing, or is it even possible to throw the arms into a jig and weld some threaded bungs in so i can run heims on the upper to get my alignment in spec?

You sure your frame is not bent? What you are describing is exactly what happens to Toyota frames when you beat on them without an engine cage.
And you can't just cut off bushing ends and add on threaded bungs. The arms are at a different angle. To do heims the arms need to be near perpendicular to the uca bolt.

No doubt it is to some degree, I can notice some warpage on the front body mount. Unfortunately though with my firewall also caving in its the nature of the beast until I can cage this sucker.

But the kit is an older model, I picked it up from ttora from another member a few years ago and I recall reading that tc had geometry issues with the early production models. Specifically I remember sdhq building some trick billet uppers for a few people to fix the problem.

Bummer about the different angles of the upper to the upper control arm bolt, I hate to shell out the cash for tcs heimed uppers to have these arms sit in the garage.

And why can't you heim them ? Still a single bolt upper. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Your best best is going to be buying heimed upper direct from TC. We did a couple of sets of arms for customers way way way back in the day but the issue has since been corrected by TC.

I can make a jig and convert your bushing uppers to heim uppers.

I am curious on this. I have seen some people say they can do it, but most others say it's not possible.

Some Say it's possible. And it is possible. My uppers were cut and bungs were added. It may be the reason why I have bump steer, yes I openly admit compared to some, but I think the huge factor on that is my spindle. A stock modified spindle. I'll be building a spindle and will eliminate all bump steer when building it

    TC Bushing Uppers:

    Now TC Heim uppers:

Notice how the heim version, the arms are parallel to eachother (at the ends of the arms near the bungs) and would be perpendicular to the UCA bolt going through the coil bucket. Whereas the bushing uppers, the arms are at an angle.

Why you ask? Think about it. If you just cut off the bushing ends and weld in heim bungs, as you extend the heims away from the bungs, you will be extending the arms AND WIDENING them. Literally the center to center measurment of the heims will increase as you unthread the heims.

I can build a jig too...but it would be for new arms with the right geometry. I'm not gonna hack job something.

An inexpensive solution to this is using appropriate misalignment spacers. If you don't feel like dropping 500+ on new arms, there is a potential solution. Now, are you going to need some wazoo 2" spacer on one side, and 1/2" on the other ? I wouldn't want a massive offset like that. That is the limiting factor on the swap. Might be doable.

I have the same issue with my Camburg arms on my second gen, I failed to order heimed uppers and I want to add more caster and try pushing the wheel forward as much as possible before solid mounting the lowers.. Thankfully they seem to be built parallel so I'm going to jig them and add heims, unless they are really in the $500 neighborhood. Can I get a quote SDHQ?

Me too. I've been trying to thing of something to do with them, seems like a waste to toss 'em. Maybe a swing out accessory mount of some sort? I dunno.
