The heat is the biggest thing I notice... again this is on my wife's 4runner so she would never do the windshield. But I always notice my legs and whole self getting hot in her car with the sun glaring in. Never an issue in mine with 20%

On my Legacy GT wagon I had 5% in the rear and hatch. It was great when my daughter was a baby/toddler and sitting in the back. Kept the direct sun off of her. Never had tint on the front windows.

On my Tacoma I do not have tint on my front windows. I always flip flop on whether or not I want to tint the front windows but I always end up deciding not too based on visibility at night and/or inclement weather. I'll deal with the sun beating on me if it means seeing better during those aforementioned scenarios.

Tinted front windshield. I'm really liking that idea.

    This.

My truck came with tint on the front windows.

    I peeled it off.

    I can see much better.

NEVER been hassled over my tint and I tint EVERY vehicle we get.

Gonna try the front windshield on your recommendation. :)

No, CRS is CRS. The officer stopping has to follow CRS, not from another states laws.
He can cite for out of state plates if RO has been in CO longer than 30 days and not registered. Hell, they can impound the vehicle for that too...it's not taken lightly.

^^ this. It's not a stop they look for, but If they want to know who's inside, they will find a primary PC to stop and discuss that, along with the tint if they choose too. Seat belt violations are also secondary stops.

Since we're sharing, I actually had it done twice. I just wanted front and back to match, and asked for 25% (as far as I know there is no 27% film because that seems to be a number that CO pulled out of its ass, much like other states). The first time was up here in FtC and the guy wouldn't do anything darker than 'legal', which because of the films they offer I think was 35% (if I recall the next step is like 20%, though I did find a 25% somewhere when I went looking). I had it on a couple of days, and then took it back and said not good enough. As others have said, it pretty much was like nothing had been done. Might have been a little darker than stock glass. Looked even worse from the inside because the stock glass in back has kind of a red tint and the film was more blue. Had a very mild, old 3D glasses effect.

I didn't post the section on front windshield, but there is one specific to that. I've never had a problem, but I have heard multiple stories about stops just for tint in Sheridan and Lakewood (long time ago). I see people running around with limo (5%) all sides and rear too.

I'll also point out it's not just the vehicle owner covered by law. They have a section for anyone who does the tinting is a misdemeanor offence with $500-5000 fine. This can make finding a shop difficult.

I tint windows all day long for a living. The chances of you getting caught are higher in the city than rural areas. I tint windshields constantly, I always advise a lighter film, but the younger the person, the darker the film. If your gonna do the windshield, I recommend 50% or less and you will still get plenty of privacy!

Has anyone here used LED replacement bulbs for their gauge/instrument/climate clusters?

Do they dim? If there is anyway I could meet up and see the brightness and/or dimmability I would appreciate it.

30% on the windshield, have fun getting pulled over ALL THE TIME!!! 30% is how much light is passing through the tint, and i think the legal limit on windshield is something like 70% if i remember right.

I had 30 on the wind shield on several vehicles and I was never once pulled over for it. Refer to ost's statment on not riding dirty and you'll be fine. :p

To each his own. I like dark tint.

And like Ost said, they can't just pull me over for having a dark windshield unless I'm being an idiot

Yeah for sure, I bet it takes a little getting used to.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I got my front window tinted just slightly lighter then the back ones when I bought the truck. I love it but I don't think I would tint the windshield. That just seems like and accident waiting to happen.

You sure you can handle it? :p

One thing that no one has touched on is the cost to tint a windshield and the fact that your windshield will be the single most replaced piece of glass on your truck. Every time you replace your windshield you will have to re-tint it. Not sure the ROI is there. Cool factor...sure.
