Whats up everyone! Just bought a '15 Tacoma PreRunner SR5 double cab. This is my first Toyota truck and I was just seeking any advice or information about owning a Tacoma.

Here is a little bit about what I bought:

    2015 PreRunner SR5 with the 4.0 V6
    SR5 Extra Value Package
    Towing Package
    ETUNE Radio with backup camera
    Sliding rear glass
Its got the two tone interior Tan/dark silver (or grey). Sorry...I couldn't remember the color name.

Here is a picture of it....

Thanks everyone. I absolutely love this truck. I've been hunting a truck for a few weeks and was thinking about just getting a used truck around 10 to 18K but everything I found around that price range was trucks with 130,000 + miles (mostly Chevy's and crappy looking F-150's). Of course, there were several of the old Colorado's floating around but there is a reason why Chevy quit making those things a couple of years ago. I don't mind used trucks but I didn't want to get stuck with high mileage and something that I didn't know for sure that would last me for a while. I started looking at some of the new mid-size trucks like the Frontier and Colorado. Didn't care for the frontier. Not a bad looking truck for the most part but it just didn't do it for me. Next, I looked at the new Colorado's. Don't get me wrong, they are some nice trucks but I found that the Colorado looked more like a crossover and the interior looked like something a nice sedan would have. Finally, I ventured over to the local Toyota dealership and looked at the Tacoma's. I loved how the exterior looked and the interior looked very nice. I test drove it and while it does not drive like some of the other trucks, it felt like what a truck should feel like. Got back and started to talk price with the dealership. I was trading in a 2006 Jeep Cherokee that I absolutely got ripped off when I bought it a little over a year ago. With that said, I was upside down on the trade but the dealership worked with me and gave me a little more than expected. With the military rebate and some other deals, I was able to get in that new Tacoma with the payments I wanted. Plus, the dealership gives a lifetime power train warranty on all new Toyota's. Been driving it for a week now and I have not been disappointed in it. Its the perfect size for me and my family.

Pretty truck! Looks good in red.

Advice? So far as a new Tacoma owner myself I've noticed:

    1) The truck makes a whine when you shut it off. This comes from the secondary air pump and is normal.
    2) Something else but I've gotten so used to it I can't recall it anymore.

I really haven't heard a whine when shutting off. Its prob. there and I just don't pay attention to it. I only have 260 miles on it, so I'm sure I will notice more when I put more miles on it. About the only thing I have truly noticed is that on a very windy day, I hear more noise from the wind. Its really nothing to me b/c we don't get extreme windy days that much here in South Carolina.

Open your door before you shut it off. Then you might hear it. haha :D I read on another thread someone commented their truck sounded like it was "having an asthma attack". It's kind of a wheezing sound.

If yours doesn't do it that's all good too!

The only noise thing I've noticed on my 3 Tacos has been excessive cab noise in rain.

Pretty far down the list of things to bitch about, if ya ask me. Although, in a couple memorable 'Florida rain' circumstances, it got so loud I basically had to shut the radio off, as I couldn't understand a word.

    Oh...and nice looking truck :)

The "whine" sound is the smog pump it kind off spools down a few seconds after the engine shuts off. Sounds a little like one of those hand held dirt devil vacuum s.

The other thing is the Tacoma tick this bothers some owners and others like myself like the sound. That's a combination of things the chain the fuel injectors and a variable vacuum switch opening and closing over and over. Every Tacoma ticks some just are a little louder than others. Many people hear it and mistake it for a ping or clunk and an indication of a problem.

I never got steps, but my ex was 5'2"

I got good at parking against the end of a row so that there was almost always a curb for her to use as a step :p
