01 tacoma can i run 32 w/ no lift?

I was curious whether or not i can run 32's (255/75/17) on my 01 xcab 4x4 without rubbing. If not- what is the biggest tire?

 

holy s*** dude! read my thread i just posted above urs. I'm wondering the exact same thing. My 01 taco needs some new shoes and I was wondering what I could get away with as far as tire size without adding a lift

 

Hey there guys! I had 265/75/R16's on my truck before the lift, and had no problems.

 

evertaco, do you know what the biggest tire you can get away with is?

 

with the 3" lift or not?

With my 3" lift, im maxed out at 285/75r16, with some slight trimming.

 

We will find out soon... they will be in monday and i will throw it on the lift and find out. Thnks for the help

 

With no lift you'd rub on 255/75's.

I have a plasma cutter! I would rather not lift it since its my daily driver. Cant have it rubbing though. I will probably put tundra coils in the front and ome leafs in the rear.

 

Gawd I hate metric sizes....

For what its worth - many moons ago... I had a 96 tacoma with 32x11.50x15's on stock 15x7 wheels with only 1.5" of lift (no rubbing).

 

I have an 02 dbl cab with 265/70/17 (measure 32 1/2") that rubbed a little on the plastic covering the the pinch weld seam. I simple cut the plastic out with a utility knife and bent the pinchweld over to gain some extra clearence. The look on the tire shops guys was priceless check out my pics.

so he's basically getting the same size tire....why bother?

 

Like I said beefore, I had 265/75's with no problems! there was no rubbing, and thats the largest you can run, stock! On the 1st gen.

 

My 265/70/17 bfg ats measured 32 1/2" when brand new. The stock 265/75/16 they replaced measured 31". There wasn't any loss in power, still smokes the tires. MPG wasn't really affected, 22 mpg to 21 1/2 mpg. Ride comfort was alittle affected due to running higher air pressure to handle more weight. I currently run around 45 psi compared to 35 on the stockers. The tread wear on bfg at is incredible. Ones on my 02 4runner lasted close to 60,000 miles and still passed inspection.

 

Ok guys- mounted the tires today! (08 TAcoma SR5 17's with BFG Mud-Terrains 255/75 r17) No rub except at full turn. I did trim the front valence a little, altough it still looks factory. They look great. Will post pics ASAP.
