Yes, but it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk. By all means, go for a ride, join an organized (paid for) ride, just don't be a dick and ride critical mass.

That's it, way to spread bicycle awareness.

Also illegal to hold up traffic, run red lights, drink while riding, etc.

Cops are directing traffic at intersections. Im sure its not going to kill people waiting 5 minutes at an intersection in their air conditioned cars

I will say I don't agree with all the people who drink and bring drugs on the ride, but hey different strokes for different folks

The police now have to monitor some of the intersections due to complaints.

People that attend regular organized rides pay for their police support. Critical mass riders don't pay for that support, everyone sitting in their cars waiting for the massholes to pass pay for that. So yeah, they're going to be bothered having to wait for you to pass.

You don't pay for critical mass rides, right?

No, who would want to pay to ride their bicycle? Its once a month, im sure they will survive being held up for a bit. Its better than cyclist going crazy every day riding all over the roads.

I dont hate cyclist. I use to road bike and still have my mtb. It's just the stupid critical mass bull shit. How they think they run the streets. If you want to prove a point and make people more aware of cyclists. Why not just ride in one lane why do they have to take over the whole street and block traffic? Critical mass is just a riot on bicycles.

I honestly don't see the big deal. Yeah if your in a hurry it is frustrating, but that's why you leave early enough for it to not be a big deal. I understand that you can't always do this, but honestly, that's life. That is why I moved to the middle of no where near waco.

Pearland has group rides. I think it's every sunday. They ride the back roads for some odd miles. Usually pretty decent group, maybe 20 or 30 riders. But they obey traffic laws and stay in one lane while riding.

maybe other group bike rides are in down town and other places that do it in the morning. Not the middle of rush hour traffic on a friday

Yeah some of the riders are dicks and ruin it for everyone. Just about any organized group with that many people are going to have a certain amount of douche canoes that make the whole group look bad. It was fun back in the day but its really big now and a lot of idiots. Still not going to make me miss an opportunity to ride though.

I remember like 4-5 years ago Pearland had the group but I didn't think anyone still rode. On occasion ill ride 40 miles or so down 521 past hwy 6 on the country side. Also CM doesnt start till almost 8 so rush hour should be over.
