See, that's not even enough for me to ride with them. All it takes is one idiot to ruin everyone's fun. Guy or girl, drunk or sober, I don't care.

I've gotten to the point where I just stay at the front of the pack the whole ride since most of the idiots tend to be slower. Ill have to check the Pearland group site, always nice to ride in a group

So I am thinking of going to the Pizza place on Monday, May 4th. Anyone want to join? I will be in Houston all week, so I can realistically do it when ever between the 1st and the 10th.

I used to ride the trails at memorial just about every weekend but the loop seems boring on a road bike. Plus 25 is out of my league lol I usually stick to 22-23mph

It is boring! Lol they should have made the running train a bike trail. And the bike into a running trail. But the group of bikers there are really into drafting. Last time I rode with them. No one stays in the lead more than 100 yards before they switched

Critical Mass in Houston wasn't always like that. It is still fun to attend. There are some hot women there too. However there are those who are there to make a ruckus. It is no longer about cycling awareness, it is more about being a douchebag.
I've rode with them in the past, probably ride with them once this summer. I've drank with them and attended events (opening of shops, bars, art exhibits, frat parties at Rice, etc). I stopped for a couple of reasons, the utter disrespect some of the riders had for property, theft, and the City of Houston planned it out so that all the vehicles that parked anywhere near the gathering point were cited (magnetic signs that were put into place after the ride started, the tickets were around 200, I fought mine and won without going to court).

You can ride the sidewalk in Houston, just not in a buisness district or when barred by signage. What this means is that you cannot ride downtown or anywhere else there are buisinesses or industial complexes within 600 feet of said roadway that occupy 300 feet collectively on both sides on the sidewalk.

I used to ride a lot. Don't care for group rides. There are many group rides that go out of places like Bike Barn, but I do my own thing. If I am on the road I notice a lot of people (especially in pickups) like to come close to scare me, even had a few honk while pulling towards me, some pull up and curse that bicycles don't belong there, etc, etc. I don't care once they don't kill me or try to. It's pretty much like riding my motorcycles, but at least those are quick lol.

I recently started riding again. Only the people who follow me on Strava know when/where I ride lol. I have my little loop I do on my steel 29er turned into a commuter. It's as fun as I remember.
