This is my first post. I've been lurking here for a while now, lots of great info!

I just ordered some new speakers for my front doors from Crutchfield http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSA...l?search=Pioneer+Premier+TS-A633P&ssi=0&tp=95 and was wondering if I need the special mounting bracket like Mr.Marv sells? Supposedly Crutchfield is sending all the installation gear needed and it looks like this might include a cheap looking bracket to make it fit in the door. Any experience with this?

    Thanks in advance!

you'll get some cheap plastic brackets.

    Tacomapack,
Are you using the factory head unit with your new speakers? If so, how much of an improvement is there? If not, what unit are you now using?
    Thanks,
    -Joe

    Joe,

They will be hooked up to the factory head unit. Haven't installed them yet but as soon as I do I'll let you know how they sound.

I'd recommend against the ********* equipment for nothing other than the pitiful customer service. The MDF that Marv uses is nice because of the added mass that it provides over the plastic units that ********* uses. I never had any issue of water getting to the MDF, so no worries with that.

I also got the ********* mounts. I didn't want to go MDF out of fear of them getting wet, which the plastic ones have already. As for customer service from *********, what do you need? They are only plastic mounting plates that fit over the stock location shouldn't need to use customer service.

Agreed!!!!!!! if you dont use a wood sealer on the MDF it will get ruined if gets wet, the plastic mounts are solid and wont need customer service

They are 3-ways. Down the road I plan on moving them to the rear doors and getting some components for the fronts with a new head unit.

The reason to keep away from ********* is because actually getting the product AND getting it in the condition you asked for is becoming a minor miracle.
