So I got the leaf spring upgrade done on my truck and come to find out the truck was fitted with a 3 leaf pack. 2 springs 1 helper. They look new and shiny and the truck looks like its sitting a little higher. Shrug my shoulders and walk away. Done a little research though and downloaded the factory TSB and it looks as though they have just replaced my springs with OEM ones.... original springs are part# --550 and --190, which are what they put new ones on of... and the replacements should be --570 and --210. So should I go back and inquire as to the reason for the discrepancy, go back and raise hell and demand the proper springs, or let it go... Did I get screwed? Or is there a reason they did this i should know about? Thanks a ton!

I just got mine approved and am waiting on parts to get in. They weren't going to do it then I showed them the tsb and they fought it but when I said I would take it up with Toyota they changed their mind.

Yup...Dealership here did the same thing to me. I wouldn't "raise hell" yet-Go back...Inform them of the mistake (people do make them from time to time) and give them a chance to make it right.

I'm sure they'll come up with it...

Thanks everyone. I did use this forum to my full advantage and printed out the 11 page original toyota TSB about the rear springs. Took that in along with the receipt they gave me and it clearly showed the problem. They were super cool about it and i'm dropping it of at 7am on thursday before work to have the right ones installed. I almost feel bad having them do $1500 worth of work twice for free, but i know toyota pays them. I'll try and take before and after pictures and learn how to post them!

I took my 09 Dbl Cab 4x4 today to dealer trying to get the TSB fix with new springs. I had no luck! They checked the suspension and said everything was good and even check alignment due to my complaint of "harsh ride" when carrying heavy load! Called the 800 number and they told me to take it to a dealer. What do I need to try next? Oh yeah, my vin was included with the TSB and the dealer said that the only thing that number was for was to identify the manufacturing plant and that it only applied to 05-08 Tacoma's

Talk to the service manager and explain the situation to him. If that doesn't work, tell him you've already talked to Toyota and they said your truck qualifies for it. If still not working, call Toyota back and they will make the dealer do it.

lol I just got mine done thanks to this site.

it was no hassle..told em it was harsh ride and bottomed out, etc. they said ok after about 10 min call to toyota

ordered parts and dropped it off for the day

i had to get to class so i didnt have time to really check it out but drove about 50 miles on the interstate and couldnt tell any difference in the ride at all.

got to school and was looking over my invoice and looked up the tsb real quick on my phone....FAIL

get out of class and feel under and there are 3 leaves

wow good job, you replaced my fail springs with the same fail springs

even the invoice and my service record says to do the tsb, and toyota approved it

ugh...email sent. if they wont do it right, ill complain on the comment card and just take it to a dealer from that other thread listing the dealers that have done them right.

if they appologize and all, and thinking thats a kinda dumb mistake, how many free oil changes should i ask for in return?

I wouldn't have any further service done there to my vehicle (excluding getting the TSB corrected). If they can't even count to four, what makes you think they can do an oil change. Granted, I also do all my own basic maintenance so.. thats me.

    ha...so true

id never let them touch an out of warranty anything that cost money

maybe i should ask for a free or half off trd exhaust or something else..it is winter though..and i dont have my own garage anymore (whole reason i sold my stroked and lifted jeep for something new with a warranty)

they stuck this giant sign in my truck that said im going to get mailed a survey and to absolutely not check anything other than "completely satisfied" before talking to the service manager...
