I was thinking the same thing. But I am starting to wonder if my new muffler helped a bit too because the truck stopped idling like crap after I changed it (it has always idled like a fuel starved Slant 6 no matter the time of the year)

its possible it helped get you the 1mpg gain from 16-17 area. but i wouldn't bank on it.

I'm starting to wonder if it was clogged up, it always rattled so I just assumed it was a broken baffle. It runs like new as of late though so no complaints from me.

Sounds like it was all busted up and partly clogged, poor construction as I have only had mufflers loose the guts over time but not clog up.

It would have moist likely made the cats and engine run a little warmer too.

Yeah, I'm certainly not marketing it as a cure all but it and some other unknown factor have helped it feel a bit more normal. I've done a lot of maintenance over the winter so all of that plus summer gas is probably what's getting me the nice results.

Anyone have the LCE 3RZ long tube header and care to share how it worked for them?

Just throwing an idea out there.. i went with an 04 exhaust manifold from camel back toyota almost/kind of like a mini header.. only cost like 200 bucks IIRC. I like it/felt a minor difference over our cast iron exhaust manifolds, however it wasn't a huge improvement.

Painted the rims, new headlights and turn signals! I used Plasticoat wheel paint. I would have liked a little more silver to them so I may redo.

Replaced my rotors and pads yesterday. Went with Powerstop rotors and Hawk LTS pads.

Also checked my drums to find one side covered in oil so I pulled my axle and replaced the inner seal as well as the pads on that side.

That is a good option too, but I'd really like to cut out as many sections of separate piping in there as I can. Currently it looks like two of those stupid joints are leaking a bit plus I have been driving with a hose clamp holding the front of the upper O2 sensor on for about a year (it is perfectly tight and sealed, but don't want it as a permanent solution). The LCE header joins straight to the CAT and even includes a new bung for the O2 sensor so I thought it would be worth the expense as long as no one has any major short comings about it.

Considering your 02 sensor situation I would probably do what your thinking. Good call.

Keep an eye on that hose clamp because I've had a few of em snap /break by themselves from the heating/cooling of the exhaust (I had tightened them pretty tight though IIRC)

I peeled the amber portion of the corner, my front turnsignal wires got a little chopped in an accident and I haven't rewired them.
