I haven't changed the brake fluid, but I ended up draining most of the fluid when I did my extended rears and front calipers, plus bleeding the clutch! What time do you plan on starting today?

I just filled with pennzoil because I was having an OCD anxiety attack and wanted to change the fluid right away. I will probably change over to synthetic and do both diffs, transmission, and transfer case next month.

My panic started because I looked at the bottom of the breather when I swapped it out during the extension mod over the weekend. It looked pretty gross, rusty sludge on it. Turns out the oil had been changed recently, and as far as I can tell, often. At least now I can sleep at night again!

I love the shit. It's pretty well all I used because I was getting an incredible deal on it. My corolla only had amsoil in it and it ran really well. Not being a typical amsoil supremacist either, I've heard real good stuff about red line and purp too.

The rear diff always gets really nasty. And it doesn't take a whole lot of water to make a murky mess!

When I had my celica I was looking up some cocktail of a tranny fluid you can use, the thing shifted real hard (from all the abuse it received I'm sure). The majority of the cocktail was redline

My Transmission was shifting very roughly, then I read about 600 threads on these forums and came across a post where a guy pointed out the transmission is a relatively heavy one, and not like the VW Golfs and Civics I am used to. Now I shift more slowly and is it much smoother. If I can pour any kind of coctail or magic potion in there that will let me shift as I am used to, I would be very happy!

I've heard of this cocktail too. Did you have a 7th gen celica? I know the corolla boys use this all the time in the C59/C60 trans. I've heard red line mt90 is best as a simple solution for these transmissions. I used ams mtg with good results too.

The transmission in the truck?! Much bigger and heavier! Do you have a 6 speed? Because they shift like dump trucks no matter what. Just the way it is!!

I had to drive my girlfriends mom home one night (just after I got the truck) she goes "well.. it sounds like a truck from in here"

I find the gearing is so spread out in the 5 speed.

I had a 7th gen GT with a c60 tranny ;) it was like a secret weapon against any other GT out there! Shorter gears FTW

Yeah man a lot of people running that combo after they grenade the stock C59. Haha. There's a guy in Bridgewater with a corolla with the same set up.

For what it was, that car held up really well! 120k of clutch dumps and limiter. I even hit 210kph in it! I had the tranny out of it 6 times. Rear sub frame rotted out and I sold it for 900 bucks :(

Corollas shift linkage is slightly different. After I blew up the first tranny I got a corolla tranny and had to Frankenstein the two together to make it work. Then my buddy wrote off 2nd gear and it was on to rebuilding a c60!

I would have liked to put a 3g in it! But that would be a lot of work!! Lol Monkey wrench racing had a 900+ hp 2zz. Hard core modified though. I believe it was a 1.5 liter? Drag car.

Yes, I have the six speed and I commute to work in rush hour. I NEVER stop shifting, and yes it shifts like a dump truck. But to be clear, I LOVE that! I went through a lot of effort to find a MT and that is because I have been in withdrawl for 5 years since my wife and I bought our AT car. It is actually kind of nice to be able to feel and even hear the parts engaging in the transmission, even if it is not smooth. Brings back a level of connection with the machine I did not expect to find since I let go of my '78 FJ55 Land Cruiser.

    You mean a 3S-GE?

Yes mwr is essentially the only people out there running zz engines to the limit in North America. The 2zz is nice. Lift all the way! :)

I hear you there! I really like the manual trans for so many reasons! The pleasure of driving, the control, the fact that my sister can't borrow my truck and my moms scared to drive it. I couldn't agree more!
Yes, too many engine codes and I haven't been looking at celica stuff in over 2 years! How about we throw a t in there aswell though ;)

You see, I do really like the lift! But if I was going to boost zz with minimal upgrades I would do the first generation. Lower compression! More booost! But at the same time I could never see myself dropping that much cash into that car making minimum wage at a gas station part time while going to school!
