SOME boxes are easy to build.

Others are a total fucking nightmare.

Took 4 boxes to get it right in my Tacoma. Went through 2 sealed and 2 ported designs before I found what worked. Manufacture spec's are not always the best for each person.

Edit:> I have 0 use for a shallow mount sub.

Well... if you're doing competition or highly sensitive to what your'e trying to get... yea it gets a lot more complicated. But for about 95% of the people just wanting some decent clean bass without competition levels... it's pretty simple lol.

Are you talking about the correct way in which the velocity is calculated throughout the entire box, how the air flows, the frequency resonance of the box as well as the space its going to be in and such? Or just doing a simple design of area, port area(for ported) and orientation?

The latter is easy. The 'correct' way to do it... seems hard. Never gone that route.

Haven't done fiberglass, but I assume its fairly easy if you know how to use fiberglass.

^^ that's how I have mine setup. Its a dual enclosure with one 10 on the passenger side and the other side I cut out and made a storage compartment for my gear and bug out bag. It's the way to go.
