Yeah I didn't qualify either. But considering it costs $200 total it's cheap insurance to replace them.

I'm not sure either. I actually found out about the recall while researching what turned out to be a lock on the spare tire carrier. I kept seeing references to a recall and then someone linked to toyota's website http://www.toyota.com/recall. I put in my VIN - there were 3: inspect/replace spare tire carrier, Lower ball Joint, and fuel hose protector. Went to the dealership, they looked up the VIN, ordered the parts, brought the taco in on my way to work, finished before lunch. Now if I look up my VIN the website says there are no open recalls.

Anyone see a problem ordering my Magnaflow 18" #11255 off of Amazon? Weird question I guess, other option would be 4 wheel parts. All pricing is essentially the same.

as long as its the right one with matching model number it should be ok, you should get a 2.5 in/out for easier installation as the 2.25 our trucks use is actually harder to line up perfectly so its easier to slide over and weld the larger size.

 

How do you get the inlet/outlet?

 

when you chose the 18 model you have to decide a few things like where the in and out are located, what size either round or oval and last the actual diameter holes for fitment.

Unless you buy a full cat back exhaust system which I do not think Magnaflow makes directly you have to buy a somewhat universal muffler.

I use a 24 inch long body 2.5 in/out centered oval design in a larger body.

Thats too small, the body is too small and the in/out are too small. your instal guy will prob F up the welds and you will hate how loud and raspy it will be.

 

When it comes to our muffler swaps the bigger the actual body is matters and anything over 14 inches long is fine just keep in mind the longer the more tame and lower tone it will be.

Look at the giant round muffler thats under the truck now.

off center vs center is really just to make the instal tighter to the frame or in the middle of the area, does not matter other than that.

If you're using the same pipe and just cutting the factory muffler out, see what kind of in/out is on there. If the stock one is center/center, go with that. If it's offset, get that. Doesn't REALLY matter but it makes things easier for the install if the in/out matches what was there originally.

I'm pretty sure the factory one goes in at the bottom and out at the top, so the factory muffler is offset.

 

Just about every muffler shop on the face of the earth has a machine or a hand tool for widening piping to make slip joints. It will be no problem to put a 2.25 in/out muffler on there. In fact, it's what I did and it worked perfect.

I've never used a straight through muffler though so I cannot comment on how that muffler will sound.
