I'm still confused how there was about 2 pages of nauseam about the price of a house.
That house (like every other piece of property) went for that price for two reasons:
    - It was worth that much to the seller
    - It was worth that much to the buyer.

Everyone's personal thoughts about how much that house should or should not be worth, regional taxes, poshness of the neighborhood, or whether or not it came with a gold plated kitchen are irrelevant.

I hope not. I really can't see how that coalition would get anything done. Not that I'm against coalitions, but the Wildrose isn't know for moderating there policy. If it were up to them they'd ban homosexuality and put in the ten commandments as our legal system. Just kidding there in case we have a misunderstanding again.

In all reality, and in my mind, I can't see the Wildrose being a good influence in Alberta. They are a relatively far right party with very little interest in providing the middle class, or lower class, with anything. There focus is how to cut the budget, go to a small government, and cater to the "rich."

Sigh, my point was never to argue against simple supply and demand. It was a silly argument and I think in the end we weren't really arguing the same thing at all. If you think personal thoughts are irrelevant why are you sharing yours?

Yeah, the PC's are sputtering out. People definately want a change and who can blame them. The last two PC leaders were terrible and no matter what they did right you can't ignore all the wrong. Personally though, in reference to your quote, I'd rather see a NDP majority. It would be better for the province and all of it's citizens. I have no problem with the province taking a hands off approach to the pipeline debacle. I do hope that the NDP's are smart enough though to slowly raise the royalty rates or tie them to the value of the oil better than the fluctuating bonus rates of the past. No point in hammering the oil companies right now when most of them are still cutting back IMHO.

One of the things everyone is missing is that it wasn't just the oil rates falling that really hammered Alberta. It was the natural gas tanking out in value that started exasperating the problems with the way the province currently manages it's oil.

I'd also build off what I was saying in that I agree with the NDP, and PC's, platform that wants to detach our budget from dependence on royalties. However I'd like a budget that includes minimal tax increases all around, including corporate taxes and a possible PST, and a focus on streamlining government services without effecting front line personnel.

What's really funny are the people posting on blogs that they want the PC's out over liquor, gasoline, and healthcare taxes. If they vote NDP I seriously doubt that any of those taxes will be erased and more will be added. I'm not saying we don't need more taxation or different forms of taxation to balance the budget, because we do, but it's funny how people sometimes think that they can have more services and government support with less money going to the government.

That's also part of the reason why I fear a huge increase in cooperate taxes. If you actually tried to eliminate some of the taxes implimented by the PC's, you have to get the shortfall from somewhere...

So they did get to the oil fast enough? I'm confused. I thought this was a fairly major problem?

Yeah, I didn't notice the dates between the articles. I get that they can't qualify the volume exactly but they do have an estimate, so how much was "recovered" of that estimate? Does the media have a good estimate or rational of why the government originally misunderstood the impact?

Sharing personal thoughts is okay. Without dialogue there can never be change, for better or worse.
However, discourse with someone on this forum is unlikely to change the price of the house that has already been sold. Unless the buyer happens to be a TW Canadian BS thread follower.

Agreed. I wasn't trying to change the value of that property though, and if people took that as my intent then I apologize for my wording.
