Leaked images have prematurely revealed the all-new 2016 Toyota Hilux, a rugged Tacoma-sized pickup truck sold in well over 100 countries worldwide.

Entirely new from A to Z, the Hilux gets a much more modern look that falls in line with Toyota’s latest design language. The bulk of the upgrades are found up front, where the truck is fitted with elongated headlights, a muscular-looking bumper and a sizable three-slat radiator grille. Sculpted fenders and bed sides partially hide the Hilux’s utilitarian roots.

The leaked images show the Hilux crew cab, but the lineup will also include single and extended cab models.

Inside, the Hilux follows the truck industry’s shift towards more car-like dashboards. The instrument cluster boasts a configurable TFT screen, the steering is commanded through an ergonomic three-spoke multi-function wheel and the truck can be ordered with a large touch screen that runs the latest generation of Toyota’s infotainment system.

No but a little less roundness in the front would make it better

One can never have too many light bars.
I don't like how the HiLux looks at all. But I wouldn't mind if that 2.8L Diesel made it's way to North America.

Look at that approach angle compared to even the 3rd gen Tacoma... It's terrible. And very un-Hilux-like.

In my opinion, it looks like a combination of a Highlander and a Colorado.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
So the 2.8 puts out 178 hp (or whatever just skimmed) is that not about the same or slight lower maybe even than the 3.0 it is replacing? That 3.0 was already rated at like 36 hwy mpg, so can we assume this slightly smaller displacing engine may crack the 40mpg?

I too will say that atleast the front end doesnt look like a giant cheeee grater with a swollen lip

The mpg ratings on the hilux are often in UK gallons, so that means 1.2009 us gallons. So at 40mpg uk, thats 33-34 mpg us.... still pretty good. Would like to know he new 3.5mpg...

Aside from the various powertrains, what are the differences between the Tacoma and Hilux? Are they built on the same under pinnings or is the basic architecture completely different?

Can't wait to see 2016 Hilux.
Toyota will take orders for 2016 Hilux later this year. 2015 orders can be placed until May 31... at least where I can check :)

Current price of 2015 Hilux for SR5 with D4D and 5 speed manual and 5000LB hitch.. (max for those things before you need commercial license) is Equivalent of $36000 with all the taxes and fees. That comes with the elocker too.
