I remember with lower psi on the street they did "float" a bit more but I wouldn't say they are considered soft. Once pressure was bumped up it felt a bit more stiff and responsive. I was around 18-20 psi based on the chalk test but ended up going to around 30.

 

I got a chance to hop some pebbles out to Gold Lake. We hit some bad weather and the last night we got soaked! Good thing the RTT held up like a champ.

 

Got any side shots with the new tires on?

Looks good what size tire is that?

 

@Acerwin they are 315/75r16 Duratracs.

 

Thought so what all did you do to clear them? Didn't do fender trimming did you? If so wasn't much?

 

@Acerwin here's what I had to cut in the front to clear. I'm still running the sway bar, some guys will chew me out for that, so I'm not getting full articulation in the front.

 

I also got in my Hypertech speedo correction unit. Is anyone else running one? Mine seems to lag a bit.

 

Het man, first off, your truck is looking BADASS as fuck! It's coming along nicely. Really dig the rear bumper!

What do you run off that propane tank? And what's all involved with that speedo correct install?

 

Thanks @Nate87! Your build is really my inspiration on getting everything going, I don't think I would have gone with 35's if it wasn't for your help.

I run my stove off the propane tank, it only holds 6lbs of gas and is aluminum so it's super light. I'll try and get a pic of my stove and table set up.

The speedo is easy. It takes about 10min to remove all the panels to access the speedo. The only thing holing everything in place is two bolts and two screws.

In the pic you can see the black wire loom which plugs into the speedo on one end and the other interfaces with the stock plug and a programable box. On the box I zip tied the USB cord and ran it out out of the coin pocked to the left so I don't have to tear apart the dash again if I want to reprogram.

The software is easy, here's a shot of when I programed it a second time in the truck.

Right on. Yeah, I've removed the dash before, so not much to it. What do you mean by lag? What is it doing or don't doing? Like take a second to respond to actual speed? Can you describe that a bit?

My speed has been off since the tires. Many said gears would correct that but it remained the same. Just figured I was roughly 10%(11.5 to be exact) off and just did the math. Would be nice to eventually get it fixed. Just further down on my list.

 

I just tried to take a video of the lag today but seems to be gone. When I first installed it it seemed to not move under 10mph then slowly creep up and it didn't seem as responsive as before.

 

@Nate87 heres a pic of how my stove setup works.



The hose comes out of the right side of the stove and hooks straight into the propane tank. I can use the tail gate for prep. I may add a 4' awning off the back for shade.

I also ran what the Hypertech would calculate for you if you changed tires and gears. It looks like a little less than 1% change, but you're saying it's more?

 

Yeah. My factory Rugged Trail tires were 265/70/16 not 75. Maybe that makes up the difference. I used a few different GPS's to see actual speed vs displayed speed. Then I did the math on a standard route I take that's over 100 miles and came out the same. Even road mile markers put it off about 10%.

 

And that drop down tray setup you have is pretty sweet! I'm thinking of adding something similar to my swing out in the future. Got a few ideas of hoe if like it to turn out.

The table's really handy! I think if I were to do my swing out again I would go with two swing outs vs one and maybe two small tables.

Question about your 9" LED's, is there any issue with having those things in front of the grill/radiator? Any concerns with airflow or notice any hotter temps with those in front like that? It's wouldn't seem like that would make much of a difference, but still curious.

 

@Nate87 I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with the lights. They just make things brighter!

 

I bought a set of wheel locks for the spare tire in the carrier. Since the carrier only needs 3, I modified the 4th one to work as a lock for the hilift jack. Now I can always have it on the truck and not worry it's going to walk away.
