So the base stock audio system on the 2015 tacoma has a touchscreen interface.

I was told that, in the future, it could be 'upgraded' to include the navigation by adding the proper sd card or whatever, but that it does have the capability to have it done.

Also, I was told that SirXM radio could be outfitted to it as well. And I asked, what about the antenna, and was told the existing antenna would work. Not sure what mods would need to be done to it, but that yeah there would no need for additional hardware (radio or antenna), besides upgrading or modifying what is already there.

Does anyone know if this is accurate? I'm a bit skeptical, more so of the SirXM claim.

I have a similar question. My 2015 came with the base radio with Bluetooth, and XM, but I would love to upgrade some how to have navigation.....

I'd like to know the answer to this question too. I also have bluetooth, xm, weather, traffic. In fact when I am in the "traffic" map view, I can see my location on the map (indicated by a blue dot). Makes me think it already knows my gps location, but needs the software to be able to do navigation.

    Cool, thanks!

But actually back to the original question. I'm trying to find out if I can add SiriusXM to the existing stock radio set up with only 'modifying' the hardware (radio and antenna) that already exists; not adding any new hardware...

The nav is less important as I could always just get a separate, stand-alone nav system.

Easy to add Sirius/XM. purchase XM tuner, interface and cable. I got mine from xmfanstore.com. My 2013 required an XM antenna. Do a search here for stealth XM antenna installation. It mounts the XM antenna underneath the bed rail near the tailgate. Works great. My favorite interior upgrade thus far.

On a 2015 there are 3 levels of Entune the basic, plus and premium(nav). The plus has XM, the premium has well nav, you need to change the head unit to upgrade.

Cool. But I was hoping I wouldn't have to go through all of that. I did that in my current car; got the radio (removable, portable; could be docked in the house as well), then had to rig up the antenna and it was a total pain, not to mention extra cables and all that. But I will research more, sounds like things have changed and there may be more options since I did that a few years ago. By the way, great product, game changer for long road trips...

Interesting. So the basic, which has the touchscreen radio, can't be made to have SirXm then? the dealer told me it could, but like I said before I was skeptical... He said the existing antenna could be used in some way, but it didn't really make sense to me...

I still think the basic radio will work with Sirius/ XM. I'm not talking about buying a receiver which plugs into your aux input. I did that for about 6 years and was pretty pleased when I found that my stock radio would control XM. When you buy an aftermarket radio, you'll see that they say satellite ready. That means they need a satellite tuner, but you control channel selection with the radio. That's what my basic radio does. I get the channel/song/artist readout on my touchscreen. I change channels on my touchscreen. It works in an identical manner to the radio in my wife's Camry, which came with XM. Do a search on TW and I think you'll find some additional info.

That sounds encouraging, thanks for the info! So you did that with your basic radio... how about the antennae, did your existing one work? Or is that what you mean by 'they need a satellite tuner'?

I pretty sure the basic factory radio does not come with an XM tuner. As is said, I ordered the kit from xsfanstore.com. It included the Sony XM tuner, the Gateway interface, the wiring harness to connect everything to your existing radio, and the XM antenna. I did what is called the stealth antenna installation. I removed the bed rail cap in the passenger side. The antenna is the same magnetic mount that comes from the XM tuners that many of us started with. I placed it near the tailgate, ran the cable forward, then into the cab through a rubber plug near the bottom of the cab. Then I replaced the cap and you'd never know it was there. Cable then ran under the carpet, door sill, and under the dash. You could mount it on the roof, but I didn't like the look. Do a search for "stealth XM antenna installation" and you can see how it's done. I did both XM tuner and antenna installation myself. Now I haven't done a search for the 2015, so there is a chance that things have changed.

^Thanks! Well, good to know that at the very least, one can control the satellite radio through the existing touchscreen... albeit with adding some other components...
